His original\n28 June 1888 marriage return names Thomas Glasgow, farmer, as his father and\nLisnagaver as Daniel's residence. Daniel Glasgow's 1871 will independently\ncalls Daniel Neely his nephew and Thomas his late brother. The structured\nmarriage date shown as 22 June conflicts with the original return and should be\ncorrected to 28 June 1888.\n\nThe original birth returns for Daniel's twin daughters add a significant\nemigration clue. Both say that Daniel was a **labourer residing in New York**\nwhen Sarah Taylor Glasgow and Elizabeth Boyd Glasgow were born at Tamlaght in\nSeptember 1889. An Irish-born cemetery labourer named Daniel Glascow who died\nat Troy, New York, on 12 February 1931 is therefore a strong candidate for the\nsame man. The identity is not yet proved: the decisive 1920 census image and\ndeath certificate have not been inspected for his wife, parents, precise Irish\norigin, or other identifying details."},{"title":"Source findings","category":"sources","markdown":"| Source | Finding | Assessment |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| [Original civil marriage return](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/marriage_returns/marriages_1888/10763/5925382.pdf), 28 June 1888 | Daniel Neely Glasgow, farmer of Lisnagaver, married Mary Jane Boyd; father Thomas Glasgow, farmer. | Direct identity, residence, spouse and father evidence. |\n| Original registered will of Daniel Glasgow of Kilrea, proved 1871 | Daniel called Thomas his late brother and Daniel Neely Glasgow his nephew. | Direct kinship evidence completing the uncle-nephew chain. |\n| [Original birth return for Sarah Taylor Glasgow](https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1889/02466/1915876.pdf) and [parallel return for Elizabeth Boyd Glasgow](https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1889/02466/1915877.pdf), September 1889 | Twin daughters were born at Tamlaght to Daniel Glasgow and Mary Jane Glasgow formerly Boyd. Identity with Daniel Neely remains unproved. |\n| [Albany Rural Cemetery database transcription](https://www.interment.net/data/us/ny/albany/albrural/albany-rural-cemetery-records-gi-gn.htm) | Gives the same Irish-born Daniel and section/plot but transcribes the death as 12 February 1913, age 66. | The official New York index proves 1931; `1913` is best treated as a digit transposition unless an original cemetery card shows otherwise. |\n| Exact civil-index marriage searches for Sarah Glasgow and Lizzie Glasgow, 1901-1925 | No candidate was identified that could be tied to the Tamlaght twins. | Bounded negative only; spelling, place, emigration, and index limitations remain. Saved search captures: [Sarah](sarah_glasgow_marriage_search_1901_1925.html) and [Lizzie](lizzie_glasgow_marriage_search_1901_1925.html). |"}]}],"similar_people":[{"id":"Glasgow-2416","name":"Daniel Glasgow","catalogue_id":"glasgow-2416","html_url":"/people/glasgow-2416.html","birth_year":1865,"death_year":1931,"birth_place":"Ireland, United Kingdom","death_place":"Troy, Rensselaer, New York, United States","score":51,"classification":"similar person","match_reasons":["same first and last name (+18)","birth years within 2 (+25)","overlapping locality (+8)"],"conflicts":[],"matching_children":[],"child_name_overlap":[],"parent_comparison":"No shared parent is indexed"},{"id":"Glasgow-2149","name":"Daniel Robert Glasgow","catalogue_id":"glasgow-2149","html_url":"/people/glasgow-2149.html","birth_year":1879,"death_year":1949,"birth_place":"Liverpool, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom","death_place":"Queensland, Australia","score":20,"classification":"similar person","match_reasons":["same first and last name (+18)","birth years within 12 (+2)"],"conflicts":[],"matching_children":[],"child_name_overlap":[],"parent_comparison":"No shared parent is indexed"}],"potential_parentage":{"children_recorded":[{"id":"Glasgow-2415","name":"Elizabeth Boyd Glasgow","birth_year":1889,"death_year":null,"gender":"Female","parent_ids":["Glasgow-2413","Boyd-18548"],"html_url":"/people/glasgow-2415.html"},{"id":"Glasgow-2414","name":"Sarah Taylor Glasgow","birth_year":1889,"death_year":null,"gender":"Female","parent_ids":["Glasgow-2413","Boyd-18548"],"html_url":"/people/glasgow-2414.html"}],"earliest_dated_son":null,"earliest_dated_daughter":{"id":"Glasgow-2415","name":"Elizabeth Boyd Glasgow","given":"elizabeth","given_tokens":["elizabeth","boyd"],"gender":"Female","birth_year":1889,"birth_place":"Tamlaght, Kilrea, Aghadowey, County Londonderry, Ireland, United Kingdom","death_year":null,"parent_ids":["Glasgow-2413","Boyd-18548"],"html_url":"/people/glasgow-2415.html"},"second_dated_son":null,"second_dated_daughter":{"id":"Glasgow-2414","name":"Sarah Taylor Glasgow","given":"sarah","given_tokens":["sarah","taylor"],"gender":"Female","birth_year":1889,"birth_place":"Tamlaght, Kilrea, Aghadowey, County Londonderry, Ireland, United Kingdom","death_year":null,"parent_ids":["Glasgow-2413","Boyd-18548"],"html_url":"/people/glasgow-2414.html"},"third_dated_son":null,"third_dated_daughter":null,"naming_controls":{"matches":0,"mismatches":0,"factor":1.0,"details":[]},"candidates":[{"id":"Glasgow-973","name":"James Glasgow","catalogue_id":"glasgow-973","html_url":"/people/glasgow-973.html","birth_year":1843,"death_year":null,"gender":"Male","age_gap":24,"age_gap_label":"at most 24 years","role":"possible father","locations":["Lisnagarvey, Lisburn and Castlereagh, Ireland, United Kingdom","Dromore townland, Rasharkin civil parish, County Antrim","Lisnagaver townland","Michigan, United States — exact locality unverified","Tecumseh, Lenawee County, Michigan, United States"],"score":11,"classification":"competing linked parent","reasons":["bounded birth date gives a parent-child age gap of at most 24 years (+10; People already attached as the subject's parents stay in the identity summary and are excluded from this alternative-candidate list, regardless of relationship confidence. The main calibration uses clues available on disconnected profiles; existing parent and sibling links are retained as comparison context rather than treated as transferable evidence. Common ordered names and grandparent-to-child echoes receive a small non-zero weight, so a John or James match can support several independent criteria without producing a lead alone. Rare names, repeated bearers and bundles across otherwise distinct branches receive substantially more weight according to catalogue frequency. An exact migration place is weighted by its rarity and repetition across both branches; a shared destination country is worth only one point. Extra weight is added only when at least three independent clue types converge: naming, locality, specific migration, household chronology or collateral networks. Sparse profiles retain a clearly labelled chronology-only fallback instead of disappearing. Countries, states, counties and research clusters do not count as a shared locality, and fallback, broad representative or kin-inferred coordinates are excluded from distance scoring. Shared descendant profiles are removed before branch-name comparison. A candidate already recorded as a parent-in-law is excluded. A confident or independently supported parent is treated as settled; uncertain and unassessed attachments remain open to alternative comparison. A different linked parent, an uncle/aunt or grandparent path, and a matching existing child profile prevent an alternative from being classified as a strong direct-parent lead until the underlying tree conflict or duplicate is resolved. Familiar forms such as Bessie are normalised. Surname remains an eligibility filter worth zero points.","warning":"Naming customs, shared farms and occupations are circumstantial. Children, spouses and collateral relatives may be missing, and tree-derived family networks are not independent evidence. Scores rank research leads; they do not prove parentage."}}
