He was admitted burgess in 1649 and was still acting as a weaver, burgess and apprenticeship master in 1693. The published register also places a Robert, son of James Glasgow, weaver, in an apprenticeship in 1672 and a Thomas, youngest son of James Glasgow, weaver and burgess, in one in 1699. This is a coherent later-child group around the same burgh craftsman, but neither the 1696 nor 1699 entry names a mother. The father attachment should remain uncertain pending a baptism, testament or incorporation record with a second identifier.\n\nThis James is not the 1690 apprentice, whose father was explicitly deceased.
