Suggested update to the WikiTree profile

This study has prepared revised text for the public WikiTree profile. WikiTree editors can compare it with the current profile and copy it; the research account above is the study's own.

Set the father link to Glasgow-1502 to uncertain (it has no status; the other three sons' links are uncertain). Keep the attachment. Add the caution that Robert-1502 is recorded only for the South Side in 1700-1701. Birth about 1708 or earlier; death after 20 December 1764, probably after April 1772.

Compared with Glasgow-1143, captured 2026-09-27T03:22:58+00:00 · 2026-09-21. This amendment requires manual action in WikiTree; the comparison shows the saved biography and prepared replacement. Relationship, confidence and vital-field changes must be applied separately.

The association of James with the linked profile draws on the combined church and later deed evidence, including the explicit 1764 son clause; this 1738 instrument alone does not establish that parentage. The holding comprised 63 acres of Lower Ballykeel and 15 acres of Upper Ballykeel. Patrick Taylor proved execution at Carrickfergus on 12 April 1742. This confirms the wife clause previously known through an abstract; "junior" is not an explicit son clause, and the renewal wording abbreviates "person and persons", not sons. Current profile91* '''1772''' – April 7, 1772 – Citizens of the Parishes of Larne, Kilwaughter and Ralloo sign a petition stating their abhorrence against the crimes perpetrated by the "Hearts of Steel"” Signed by William Glasgow, James Glasgow, James Finley, John Glasgow, and a second James Glasgow, all of the Parish of Larne; and from the Parish of Kilwaughter, Robert Glasgow, James Glasgow, and Hugh Shannon, all three names appearing in succession. [Note: The fact that Robert Glasgow, James Glasgow and Hugh Shannon signed this petition in Kilwaughter Parish, with the same document establishing two other James Glasgows from Larne, convinces me that this is our ancestor, Robert Glasgow, still living in 1772, together with his son, James and his son-in-law Hugh Shannon. By this evidence, I accept that James Glasgow did not emigrate to South Carolina until AFTER April of 1772. The ideal time for departure was after farmers had had a chance to harvest their crops in the fall. Also, is James Finley the same James Finley who witnessed James Glasgow's will in South Carolina?].
