Suggested update to the WikiTree profile

This study has prepared revised text for the public WikiTree profile. WikiTree editors can compare it with the current profile and copy it; the research account above is the study's own.

Preserve the complete sourced family account and explain the limits of the 1740 and 1772 identity candidates. Qualify the traditional marriage, dates and parentage. The 1796 migration is already correctly described as the younger Hugh’s household.

Application review, 2026-09-30: Full current biography compared passage by passage with the reconciled draft: facts, named relatives, quotations, citations, search scope and uncertainty accounted for. Supported corrections are recorded in the preservation audit. Proposed edits remain unsaved. Full replacement requires the profile manager.

Current profile35This fits the family account closely. Hugh is found in the correct county and parish only a few years after his reported marriage, and his name appears almost immediately beside that of James McCullough. Taken together, the date, location and McCullough connection make this the strongest candidate for the Hugh described in the family history.

Replacement profile98The collector sequence beside James McCullough makes one of the 1740 householders a useful working candidate for this Hugh.
