| [PRONI Will Calendars, Thomas Glasgow administration](https://apps.proni.gov.uk/WillsCalendar_IE/WillsSearch.aspx), Belfast registry | The full official abstract records that Thomas Glasgow, late of Lisnagaver, County Antrim, farmer, died there on 21 June 1870. Letters of administration were granted on 7 September 1870 to **Mary Anne Glasgow of Lisnagaver, his widow**; effects were under £200. PRONI marks the entry “No Image.” | **Identity resolved; parentage unchanged.** This is an intestate administration, not a will. It proves Mary Anne's role and excludes Mary `Glasgow-3167`, who was a spinster until 1871. It names no heirs, siblings or parents and gives no Alexander relationship. |
| Original will of Daniel Glasgow of Kilrea, proved 1871 | Daniel names `my late brother Thomas Glasgow` and `my nephew Daniel Neely Glasgow`. | Direct relationship evidence. |
| [IrishGenealogy indexed record](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/view/?record_id=cima-2455742) and [original civil marriage return](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/marriage_returns/marriages_1888/10763/5925382.pdf), 28 June 1888 | Daniel Neely Glasgow was a farmer residing at Lisnagaver and named his father as Thomas Glasgow, farmer. | Direct father evidence which identifies the will's brother-and-nephew pair with this Lisnagaver family. The local PDF is internal preservation only. |
| [1851 census, Lisnagaver household 37](http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1851/Antrim/Kilconway/Rasharkin/Lisnagaver/37/) | Thomas, 35, was a farmer with wife Mary Ann and five daughters at Lisnagaver. | Identity/place support, but no parent statement. |
| [Canterbury Museum Macdonald Dictionary card for John Alexander Redpath](https://digitalnz.org/records/37798178) | Redpath's wife Ann is explicitly called the daughter of **Thomas Glasgow, farmer and flax miller of Kilrea, Ireland**; she died 8 July 1921 aged 78. | Strong compiled collateral identification of Thomas as Rose Ann's father and evidence for his occupation and Kilrea connection. It does not name Thomas's parents. Saved [card image](../Glasgow-3904/sources/macdonald_john_alexander_redpath_card.jpg). |
| [Canterbury Museum Macdonald Dictionary card for John Haigh](https://digitalnz.org/records/37792659) | Haigh married **Eliza, daughter of Thomas Glasgow of County Antrim**, in January 1868; she survived him in 1921. | Independent compiled confirmation that a second emigrant daughter was Thomas's child. No parent of Thomas is named. Saved [card image](../Glasgow-3904/sources/macdonald_john_haigh_card.jpg). |
| [Original Mermaid assisted-passenger list, 1862](https://christchurchcitylibraries.com/Heritage/Digitised/Emigration/EmbarkationLists/Mermaid-1862/) | Rosanna Glasgow, 21, Antrim, dairy woman, appears in the single-women section beside Elizabeth Glasgow, 24. | Exact age/place match for daughter Rose Ann in Thomas's 1851 household and consistent with the Redpath card. No parent or grandfather is stated. Saved [original list](../Glasgow-3904/sources/mermaid_passenger_list_1862.pdf). |

The later images are [Ellen](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/birth_returns/births_1897/02142/1813179.pdf), [Catherine](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/birth_returns/births_1899/02043/1782340.pdf), [Charles](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/birth_returns/births_1902/01892/1735215.pdf) and [Alexander](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/birth_returns/births_1905/01798/1705043.pdf). | Original proof of Sarah's maiden surname, husband and five children. The younger Sarah is the strongest identification of the 1914 granddaughter-informant. |
| [Charles Taylor and Sarah Glasgow marriage index](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/view?record_id=cima-2318065) and [original return](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/marriage_returns/marriages_1885/10855/5963591.pdf), 12 March 1885 | Sarah, full-age spinster of Lisnagaver, married Charles Taylor at Rasharkin Presbyterian Church and named her father as Thomas Glasgow, farmer. | Direct proof that Sarah was Thomas's daughter. |
| [Mary Ann Glasgow death index](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/view?record_id=cide-3485826) and [original return](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/deaths_returns/deaths_1914/05313/4478270.pdf), 3 January 1914 | Mary Ann Glasgow, widow of a farmer, died at Lisnagaver aged 94. Informant Sarah Taylor of Lisnagaver was described as `Grand-daughter`. | Original relationship evidence compatible with the younger Sarah born in 1893. The informant is not explicitly identified by age or parents, so the link is strongly inferred rather than proved. |
| [New Zealand Times, 1 March 1916](https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/NZTIM19160301.2.60) | John Glasgow Taylor, carpenter and soldier, was identified as a son of Charles Taylor of Lisnagaver, Rasharkin. | Contemporary evidence for a further child and strong surname-preservation support for the same household. |
| [Genes Reunited descendant account](https://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/general_topics/thread/465937) | Names Sarah, wife of Charles Taylor, as a daughter of Thomas Glasgow. | Now corroborated as to Sarah's married identity, but still derivative as to parentage. |
| Private email thread, 10–11 February 2020, recovered in the supplied correspondence audit | The correspondent identifies her great-grandmother as Catherine Glasgow, reportedly Thomas and Mary Ann McCracken's sixth daughter, repeats the Alexander-and-Rosanna parent tradition, mentions three children omitted from the online family, and offers further material about Daniel the Kilrea clockmaker. | Valuable descendant correspondence and a concrete follow-up lead, not an independent parentage source. No checked autosomal segment evidence or underlying family papers were recovered, and the account may derive from the same tradition as the 2007 posting. The correspondent's identity and private message text are not published. |
| [Drimbolg graveyard transcription, grave 1](https://genealogy.torrens.org/BannValley/church/Drimbolg/graveyard.html), [1888 marriage](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/marriage_returns/marriages_1888/10763/5925382.pdf), [Elizabeth's 1889 birth](https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1889/02466/1915877.pdf) and original 1901 Tamlaght household | The marriage names Mary Jane Boyd of Tamlaght, daughter of Hugh Boyd. Elizabeth's birth names Daniel and Mary Jane formerly Boyd; the census calls Elizabeth and Sarah nieces of Hugh S. Boyd; the memorial calls Mary Jane Glasgow Hugh and Joseph's sister and Elizabeth their niece. | Continuous, conflict-free evidence identifies the memorial Mary Jane with Daniel Neely's wife and Elizabeth with their daughter at high confidence. It does not identify Thomas's parents. |
| [Paired birth returns, September 1889](https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1889/02466/1915876.pdf) | Thomas's son Daniel Neely was a labourer residing in New York when Sarah Taylor was born on 8 September and Elizabeth Boyd Glasgow on 9 September at Tamlaght. | Direct evidence creating a strong US research route to Thomas's identity and parents. The records do not support a same-day twin description. |
| [New York State Death Index, Daniel Glascow](https://www.newyorkdeathindex.com/people/daniel-glascow-1931-25437) | An Irish-born cemetery-labourer candidate died at Troy on 12 February 1931, certificate 9941. | Strong candidate for Daniel Neely, not yet same-person proof. |

Relationship conclusion

Thomas and Daniel of Kilrea were brothers at high confidence. The unusual full
name Daniel Neely Glasgow, explicit `nephew`, explicit `brother Thomas`, father
Thomas Glasgow, occupation, and Lisnagaver residence form a conflict-free two-record
proof chain.

The chain stops there. It supplies no father or mother for Thomas or Daniel.

Rose Ann's New Zealand records independently strengthen the identification of this
Thomas as the Lisnagaver/Kilrea man, but they likewise stop at Thomas and do not
identify the proposed older Alexander.

The Newberry comparison is now more concrete but remains comparative only.
Rachel Glasgow's husband is identified as Robert McCrackin (c.1771–1817), and
their stones prove children Ruth and Pulauski; probable son Cyrus administered
Robert's estate. Hiram, a grandson of Wilson Glasgow and Mary McCracken, married
Mary Ann Brandon Kennedy, and their daughter Cleora married Leland McNary
Speers. No new record links the South Carolina McCrackins to Carnfinton or names
the father of Alexander, Thomas or Daniel. The repeated McCracken marriages are
therefore a useful migration/network hypothesis, not parentage proof.

Identity cautions

- Do not retain Alexander and Rosanna as certain parents on the strength of the
  2007 message-board account.
- Do not describe Daniel as Thomas's uncle; Daniel's original will explicitly calls
Thomas his brother. The older family tradition apparently misstated the degree.
- Do not use the sibling proof to attach either man to Adam.
- Do not treat the 2020 correspondence as a second independent source for
Alexander and Rosanna until the correspondent's underlying family material and any
claimed DNA segment evidence are obtained.

Local-cluster update

Younger Alexander `Glasgow-951` is Thomas's possible brother or cousin, based on their
similar ages, farming status, tightly grouped Lisnagaver households, movements
between adjoining Gortereghy and Lisnagaver, and the late family account. His son
Robert `Glasgow-938` is the best candidate for the Griffith Gortereghy Robert.
If the brother inference is correct, Daniel and Thomas were uncles of that Robert.
Neither relationship should be stated as proved.

Thomas's wife Maryann McCracken now supplies a more specific local affinal lead.
A 1834 tithe record places John McCrackine at **Carnfinton**, Mary Ann's reported
birth townland. Griffith's Valuation later has Robert and William McCracken
there. Civil marriages identify Carnfinton children of a farmer William:
Mary Ann (1867), James William (1886), and Elizabeth (1889); James McCracken
witnessed Elizabeth's marriage. James William's marriage was witnessed by
Alexander Marks; Mary Ann's husband George Mark was a son of Alexander Mark.
This may be the same Marks in-law network. Alexander's daughter Ann married Robert
McCracken in 1876, also naming a father William, although that register calls
William a labourer and places Robert at Lisnagaver. Robert is therefore a strong
candidate—not yet a proved sibling—within the Carnfinton William household.

If valuation-era William was Mary Ann's brother and Ann's husband Robert was
his son, Alexander's daughter married the nephew of Thomas's wife. This is a
testable, unusually specific kin-network hypothesis that would strengthen the
Alexander–Thomas brother case. It remains indirect and depends on two unproved
McCracken relationships. The Griffith name **McCochrane** at Lisnagaver is
standardised as Cochrane and should not be treated as a McCracken spelling
without an explicit record.

The strongest South Carolina comparison is specifically the descendant line of
Robert `Glasgow-1143` of Kilwaughter. His son James `Glasgow-1144` had siblings
Rachel and Wilson Crossier: Rachel married Robert McCrackin, while Wilson
`Glasgow-1982` married Mary McCracken. Wilson and Mary's daughter Mariah then
married William McCracken. Thus two children of one Glasgow household and one
grandchild made three McCracken marriages across two generations. This is a
strong repeated-alliance pattern, not three unrelated Glasgow branches.

The exact relationships among Robert, Mary and William McCracken remain
unknown. Proving that they were siblings, parent and child, or close cousins
would make the Newberry pattern a much better analogue for the proposed
Carnfinton–Lisnagaver alliance. It still would not prove that the Newberry
McCrackens came from Carnfinton: the documented marriages belong to the
post-migration Newberry community, and no record yet bridges the two McCracken
groups. McCracken is also a spouse surname and cannot explain Glasgow Y-DNA.

The Marks witnesses are now a parallel free-research route. John Marks
witnessed Alexander's son Robert in 1866; Jane Marks witnessed Thomas's daughter
Anne/Nancy in 1879; Lizzie J. Marks witnessed Thomas's son Daniel Neely in 1888;
and Alexander Marks witnessed James William McCracken in 1886. Proving how
Alexander/George Mark relate to John, Jane, Lizzie and the tithe-era Gardiner
Marks could connect both Glasgow households to the same McCracken in-law family
without relying on surname repetition alone.

The older Alexander `Glasgow-3904` and Rosanna Unknown are defensible uncertain
working parents. Their dates must be earlier than the current 1790 estimates if
Daniel is their son, and no source proves Rosanna's surname was Shaw. Adam and
Rose of Inishrush should not be placed above the older Alexander: Adam is
unsupported and Rose is chronologically excluded.

The reported first child Rose Ann, born about 1841 during the gap in the public
Rasharkin baptism transcription, is compatible with the traditional maternal
name Rosanna. It is only a naming clue: Rose Ann could honour Mary Ann
McCracken's mother, whose identity is unknown. Thomas's later reported son
Alexander is potentially more useful, especially if he was the first son, but
his exact birth order and destination have not been established.

The reported son Alexander can now be bounded more tightly. Thomas's 1851
household lists only daughters, the public Rasharkin baptism transcription
through 1846 contains only daughters for Thomas and Mary Ann, and no suitable
Alexander Glasgow birth appears in the Irish civil index for 1864-1870. No
age-compatible Irish marriage or death was found in bounded civil-index
searches. If the descendant account is correct, he was most likely born after
the 1851 census and before civil registration in 1864, then emigrated.

The official South African NAAIRS index supplies the first concrete destination
lead: an Alexander Glasgow was defendant in Cape Supreme Court files in 1893
and 1898. Follow-up identifies the other parties. The 1893 plaintiff was the
estate of Gerhard Myburgh, a prominent Cape Town merchant and consul-general;
the 1898 plaintiff was Maria Lacey Welch, a repeated Cape mortgage holder later
buried at Observatory, Cape Town. This places the defendant much more strongly
in Cape Town's commercial/property orbit. It still proves neither Irish origin
nor parentage, and only the files can establish whether the two cases concern
one man. The references are KAB CSC 2/6/1/146 ref. 286 (1893) and KAB CSC
2/1/1/350 ref. 123 (1898). A [held candidate draft](../../research/Glasgow-4154/1893_South_Africa_Cape_Town_Alexander_Glasgow.md)
records the duplicate audit and prevents premature attachment.

The tithe/valuation acreage pattern should not be overstated as sibling proof.
Thomas's later holding is close in size to the 1834 Robert holding, while the
later John-plus-younger-Alexander land approximates the 1834 Alexander holding.
That topology is compatible with separate tenant successions and makes the
cluster less like a simple three-son division of one farm. Only the 1835 rental
and 1869 maps can test the transfers.

Current conclusion — original Prescott conveyances, 13 September 2026

The original [30 July 1861 deed, B465](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSLG-LWB8-D) now identifies Daniel of Kilrea, watchmaker, and Thomas of Lisnagaver, farmer, with wives Margaret and Mary Anne, as the men selling interests under Robert’s will. Their identity with Daniel-3896 and Thomas-987 is established by the combined places, occupations, wives and earlier brotherhood evidence. The siblings’ parents remain unnamed. Robert, Samuel, John, Daniel and Thomas belong to the same will-defined sibling group, with sister Mary and brother James’s children also named. No contemporary parent names follow, and Alexander-951 is not proved to be another brother.

| [Robert’s will, B12, 9 October 1849](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSLG-LWY9-S) | Four named brothers receive sixths; sister Mary and brother James’s children complete the shares. | The original does not say James was deceased; a pre-1849 death must not be inferred. |
| [B465, 30 July 1861, pp.397–398](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSLG-LWB8-D) | Daniel of Kilrea, watchmaker, and Thomas of Lisnagaver, farmer, with wives Margaret and Mary Anne, convey two sixths to Samuel under Robert’s will. | Direct identity and inheritance bridge. The crossed-out duplicate is not a second transaction. |
| [C114, 25 March 1868, pp.164–165](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSLG-LQRC-Y) | Alexander Glasco, Rochester express agent, son of James the Prescott carpenter, conveys one eighteenth to Mary Eno Glasgow, widow of Samuel. | A named Rochester family, not proof of Alexander-951’s parentage. Eno is a recorded name, not a proved maiden surname. |

See the [complete original-deed table and title-fraction assessment](/people/glasgow-951.html#family-network). Eliza Jane and Mary of Rochester are the carpenter’s eldest and second eldest daughters; their ninth shares do not fit a simple division of Robert’s sixth for James’s children. The carpenter’s identity with Robert’s brother remains a property-based hypothesis.

The [original C298 deed, 15 September 1869](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSLG-LQTY-K), registered 1 July 1870, identifies **Mary Black, formerly Mary Glasgow, as Robert’s sister**, and names children John Black (wife Martha) and Rose Ann Black at Drumoolish, Jane Miller (wife of Robert Miller), Agnes and deceased Elizabeth Black at Newburgh, and Thomasina Montgomery (wife of Mathew) at Legrand, Iowa. This establishes the Black collateral branch; it does not name the siblings’ parents. The original C114 identifies James’s son Alexander as a Rochester express agent, whose identity with Alexander-951 remains unproved.

### 17 September 2026: widow Mary Ann's remarriage and the Ballydonnelly mill (Source findings)

A 30 March 1889 Exchequer judgment (creditor Robert Wilson, trading as Louden & Wilson, Belfast) describes the debtor as **Mary Ann Smith otherwise Glasgow, wife of John Smith, formerly of Rosedermot otherwise Rosedemate**, holding the Lisnagaver tenancy and the Ballydonnelly flax-mill plot (rent £1 1s 8d) under "the representative of the late Robert B. Harvey Esq." ([FamilySearch 3Q9M-CSKS-13HQ-D](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSKS-13HQ-D)). This documents that Thomas's widow **Mary Ann (McCracken) Glasgow remarried a John Smith** and moved to Rosedermot, and confirms the Ballydonnelly flax mill was the Thomas branch's holding. Thomas himself died **21 June 1870** at Lisnagaver (Will Calendar and the 21 June index; a "24 May 1870" FamilySearch index entry is a divergent transcription). ### Kilrea school register — 6 October 2026

The published [Kilrea Girls' National School register](https://genealogy.torrens.org/BannValley/church/KilreaCOI/NatSchoolGirls.html), entry 53, records in 1871 **Sarah Glasgow**, aged 9, residence "Ballyconley", parent or guardian "Widow"; the religion column is blank. Thomas died on 21 June 1870 and his widow Mary Ann later held the Ballydonnelly flax-mill plot. The entry probably records their daughter Sarah (Glasgow-3975) living with her mother at Ballydonnelly the year after Thomas died. It is the first record placing a Glasgow household in residence at Ballydonnelly, and bears on the "John Glasgow, late of Baladonly" of the 1892 citation. The townland spelling is the transcriber's, the original register has not been seen, and no father is named, so the identification is probable, not proved.

### Findmypast sweep — 7 October 2026: date and place of Mary Ann's remarriage

- *Coleraine Chronicle*, 23 February 1889, p.1 (BNA `BL/0001283/18890223/002`): "Smith and Glasgow — At Ballymena, on the 18th inst., John Smith, formerly of Moneydie [Perthshire, per the Findmypast index], but now of Rosdernat [Rosedermot], Cloughmills, to Mrs. Glasgow, Lisnagaver, Rasharkin." The civil marriage index has **Mary Anne Glasgow**, Ballymena, January–March 1889, vol. 1, p.127; John Smith is among the names on the same index page (`IRE/BMD/M/614399501`).
- *Ballymena Observer*, 29 March 1889, p.3 (BNA `BL/0001426/18890329/067`): Samuel Hood, auctioneer, Church Street, Ballymena, was instructed by "Mrs. Smith (late Mrs. Glasgow), of Lisnagaver" to sell on the premises on Monday 1 April 1889. The sale comprised hay, two stacks of corn, pits of potatoes and the entire household furniture, including a sofa, two glass cases, bedsteads and **three eight-day clocks**.
- Together these date the remarriage to **18 February 1889** and show the Lisnagaver household being sold up on 1 April 1889, six weeks after the wedding and two days after the 30 March Exchequer judgment. They add **Moneydie, Perthshire** as John Smith's earlier home. The clocks are suggestive of the Kilrea watch-and-clock-making family context, but they are not evidence of it.

Relationship assessment — the Neely name in the 1846 marriage, 6 October 2026

The civil marriage of John Glasgow-867 of Lisnagaver and Margaret Garvin on 16 November 1846 was witnessed by James Garvin and Wm Neely; the bride lived at Rockfield, Desertoghill. Thomas's son was named Daniel Neely Glasgow. The shared Neely name is an association only and establishes no relationship between John-867 and Thomas.

Source findings — Lisnagaver and Ballydonnelly mortgages, 1886 and 1887 (recorded 24 August and 17 September 2026)

A Registry of Deeds memorial of a [mortgage dated 8 May 1886](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSJ4-3PC5) records **Mary Ann Glasgow, widow, and Daniel Glasgow, farmer, both of Lisnagaver**, mortgaging to the Antrim County Land Building and Investment Company a Lisnagaver farm of 33 acres 3 roods 36 perches, held by Mary Ann as tenant from year to year, and a Ballydonnelly parcel of 1 acre 1 rood 20 perches with a flax mill. It was read from the FamilySearch image. The 17 September 2026 log lists a [second mortgage by the same parties, dated 28 December 1887](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSK3-M9MW-C), registered in 1889, over the same property; the [1885–89 Land Index](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSNF-71YX) lists the mortgages under "Glasgow Mary A".

The deeds state no relationship between Mary Ann and Daniel. The acreage closely matches Thomas's lot 26a of 32 acres 3 roods 15 perches in the first valuation (both statute measure), so the farm continued in his widow's hands. Daniel Neely Glasgow (Glasgow-2413), a farmer of Lisnagaver and son of Thomas in his 1888 marriage, is very probably the Daniel of these deeds. The Ballydonnelly mill parcel is the plot named in the 1889 Louden & Wilson judgment against Mary Ann Smith otherwise Glasgow (above).

Source findings — 1869 judgment against Thomas Glasgow of Lisnagaver, recited 1881 (recorded 24 August 2026)

A [Registry of Deeds judgment memorial of 1881](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSK3-S9HM-Y), read from the FamilySearch image, recites a judgment obtained on 22 December 1869 by Robert Smyrell against Neal Brennan, Arthur Brennan and **Thomas Glasgow of Lisnagaver, County Antrim, farmer**. The 1881 affidavit states that Thomas was then deceased. Name, townland, occupation and death before 1881 make this probably Thomas, who died on 21 June 1870. The memorial states no kinship and says nothing of his parentage; it shows him as a co-debtor with two Brennans six months before his death.

Recorded in `research/Glasgow-951/sources/familysearch_lisnagaver_deeds_1881_1886.md` (24 August 2026); carried into this file on 7 October 2026.

Source findings — baptisms of Thomas and Mary Ann's daughters, 1842–1846 (recorded 5 and 17 September 2026)

The published [Rasharkin Presbyterian baptism transcription](https://genealogy.torrens.org/BannValley/church/RasharkinP/Baptisms_1834.html) (register PRONI MIC1P/292) records children of **Thos. Glascaw/Glascow and Mary Ann McCrackin/McCracken**:

| Year | Child | Residence |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1842 | Eliza | Moneyleck |
| 1843 (born 17 October) | Eliza | Lisnagaver |
| 1846 (born 29 April) | Jane | Lisnagaver |

The entries were seen as a transcription only. The repeated name Eliza suggests that the first child died young, unless the two entries are a duplicate; the original register should be read. The 1843 Eliza was born eight days after Alexander's son James (born 9 October 1843, entry 203), also at Lisnagaver: close local association, not a stated relationship. These are the daughters behind the statement above that the transcription through 1846 contains only daughters.

Recorded in `research/Glasgow-951/sources/agent_B_2026-09-17.md` (17 September 2026) and `research/Glasgow-951/glasgow_parentage_master_integration_2026-09-05.md` (5 September 2026); carried into this file on 7 October 2026.

Source findings — Catherine, probable daughter (Glasgow-3976): two candidate records (recorded 9 August 2026)

The profile draft for Thomas lists a probable daughter **Catherine** ([Glasgow-3976](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Glasgow-3976)) and two records it calls compatible with her:

- a New Zealand notice of intention to marry, Christchurch, **3 October 1877**: Catherine Glasgow, aged 24, spinster and milliner ([transcription](https://itm.howison.co.nz/year/1877/district/christchurch));
- a Victorian death-index entry for **Catherine Ekberg, 1946, registration 12550**, reported to give her father's surname as Glasgow and her mother as **Mary Ann McCracken**. This detail is taken second-hand from a family discussion, not from the index itself.

An age of 24 in 1877 implies birth about 1853, after the 1851 census. Two of Thomas's daughters, Ann Redpath and Eliza Haigh, are documented in Canterbury, which makes the Christchurch notice a reasonable candidate. Neither record is yet identified with Thomas's daughter; the mother's name in the death index, if confirmed, would be the link. The Victorian death certificate and the original notice are needed.

Recorded in `research/Glasgow-987/Glasgow-987.md` (profile draft, references accessed 9 August 2026); carried into this file on 7 October 2026.

Identity assessment — the 1901 Coltrim Thomas Glasgow is another man (recorded 9 August 2026)

The [1901 census Form B1 for Coltrim, Moneymore DED, house 7](https://nationalarchives.ie/collections/search-the-census/view-pdf/?doc=nai000629314) (original image) lists a Thomas Glasgow but gives no age, occupation or relationships. He is not this Thomas, who died at Lisnagaver on 21 June 1870.

Source findings — daughter Jane's marriage, 1867, and a Catherine excluded (recorded 23 September 2026)

The [civil marriage register for Finvoy, 7 March 1867](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/marriage_returns/marriages_1867/11481/8220222.pdf), read from the image, records **Jane Glasgow of Lisnagaver**, father **Thomas Glasgow, farmer**, marrying Robert Jamison; the witnesses were Leslie Ellis and George Graham. Townland, father's name and occupation make her Thomas's daughter Jane ([Glasgow-1361](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Glasgow-1361)), born in 1846.

The [marriage of Catherine Glasgow and Alexander Smith at Ballymena on 17 June 1871](https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/marriage_returns/marriages_1871/11341/8162761.pdf) concerns Catherine of Cabragh, daughter of Saml Glasgow, labourer. She is **not** Thomas's probable daughter Catherine (Glasgow-3976).
