Biography
The military list under COLONELS names George Glasgow, of the royal artillery; the name wraps across two lines.[1]
Military Promotions, War Office August 30: Major-General George Glasgow appears among Royal Artillery officers appointed to take rank by brevet as Lieutenant-Generals.[2]
Research Notes
The 1811 Royal Artillery George and the 1819 brevet appointee are compatible as one career sequence, but identity is inferred, not stated. Glasgow-3611 (1777–1857), Glasgow-1529 (estimated 1769, death unknown), and Glasgow-3345 (1792, death unknown) remain weak local name/chronology comparisons without a military bridge; dates are profile leads, not newly inspected vital records. The 1811 colonel role makes younger comparisons less persuasive, without supplying an exact age. No profile is assigned. The 1713 Keady ruling elder called R.E. is not identified as a Royal Engineer by these notices.
Birth, death, parents and spouse are unknown from these notices. Irish newspaper publication is not evidence of Irish birth or residence. Do not connect the officers to one another or to Lisnagaver, Rasharkin or Cookstown without evidence.
