Robert de Glascu — Durham witness

A maintained local edition of the research, with the original sources and assessments.

Project status: individual pre-1500 documentary subject; architecture reviewed 29 August 2026. This is a free-space research page, not a WikiTree person profile.

Biography

Robert de Glascu witnessed an episcopal ordinance issued at Kippax on 30 January 1248/49. The act styles him dominus but does not state his office.[1]

The ecclesiastical context makes clerical status plausible, but the record does not justify calling him a priest, canon or episcopal clerk.

Research Notes

Identity with the Dunkeld clerk recorded in 1229–1236 is chronologically possible but unproved. Keep the records separate pending an explicit bridge.
