Biography

Robert de Glasgu was a clerk in the household of Gilbert, bishop of Dunkeld, between 1229 and 1236. He appears in the expanded witness list of a charter preserved in a 1423 transumpt.[1]

The transumpt preserves usable evidence but is not a contemporary autograph. The charter names Robert among Bishop Gilbert's clerks and gives no family relationship.

Research Notes

The Durham witness of 1248/49 could be the same man, but no shared office, benefice, patron or associate proves continuity. Keep them as separate working identities.
