  • William Castles (Castles-381), born about 1700 at Kilsyth and married Janet Din there in 1733, is not established as Jean's father. No source connects him to Agnes Weir or Lesmahagow.
  • William Cassels (Cassels-181), born in 1716, is chronologically impossible as the father of the 1722 child. Searches of Castles, Cassels and Castle found no compatible William.
  • Agnes Weir (Weir-3392), born 1721 and married Andrew Fairservice, is too young and is a different woman.
  • Agnes Weir (Weir-1915) is attached to Archbald Gallaway; Weir-1136, Weir-1138, and Weir-4625 have incompatible localities, dates, or family contexts. None is a proved match.
