William's 14 October 1716 Dalkeith baptism explicitly names James Clerksone and Jean Threepland as parents. Compatible existing profiles are James Clerksone (Clerksone-2) and Jean Threepland (Threepland-1). This is the safer of the two parent leads audited on 2 September 2026, but it should remain uncertain until evidence connects the Dalkeith child to the William who married Agnes Nimmo and raised children at Wiston and Roberton.

FamilySearch PID KCRK-KQ5 combines that baptism with Agnes Nimmo, their 1734 Wiston and Roberton marriage, and their children. The combined tree supplies continuity as a lead, not as an independent record.
WikiTree Clerksone-2 is the only exact James Clerksone result near 1698 and cites the 1716 child record. Threepland-1 is the only compatible Jean Threepland result and is attached as James's wife. Its displayed 1698 birth conflicts with biography text transcribing a 1658 christening and needs correction separately.
