This profile formerly conflated Jean with a different Jean baptised at South
Leith in 1658. That woman would have been about 57 at the 1715 marriage and
about 58 at William's baptism; the 1658 event is not evidence for this Jean.
The 1693 baptism, the rare surname, chronology and Lasswade–Dalkeith setting
make the identification strong, but no adult record expressly repeats the
parents' names. The identification of her parents therefore remains uncertain.<ref name="Baptism" />

The MyHeritage collection entries and the Bogle and Harper family trees below
are derivative sources. Their South Leith identification conflicts with the
Lasswade candidate and does not establish Jean's parents.
