CARTHAGE, Mo.- Ruth Glasgow Moore, 93, Carthage, died at 11:48 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 1997, at McCune- Brooks Hospital, after a long illness.
Mrs. Moore was born Sept. 28, 1903, at Carthage. She lived in Oklahoma for a time, returning to Carthage in 1946. She worked and later owned and operated the former Glasgow General Store, east of Carthage. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage. She married Alfred Moore on Nov. 7, 1925, at Avilla. He died on Aug. 8, 1990. A son, Jean Moore, also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Jeannette Lambeth, Durant, Okla., and Vivian Dysard, Carthage; two grandsons, and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fasken Cemetery, east of Carthage. The Rev. Mitch Miles will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage.

Her research was all traditional; interviews, phone calls, snail mail, libraries and microfilm. She accumulated a small library of documents, photos, and letters. Her information is generally dependable for what she had to work with, however it was never documented by present genealogical standards. One discovery she was proud of was that Henry Fleischer who died in Virginia in 1831 was a direct ancestor to both her and her husband. I am her son-in-law. My goal is to preserve as much of her research as possible. I began by entering and improving her data into a RootsMagic database, which I hope the family will preserve.
