Glasgow-3127 is a strong compatible Royal Artillery candidate: its live biography says Captain, father of Madeline and deceased by 1846, but its Sources section is empty. Glasgow-3785 (1795 Quebec–1851 Kingston) remains an exact-name chronology comparison without a military bridge. Glasgow-1536 (Barony birth/baptism 26 October 1804) is an explicitly linked weaker comparison in 3127; the newspaper supplies no parentage bridge. The 1833 Clement Stuart christening and 1851 death-duty citations on 3785, and the 1846 late-father claim on 3127, need underlying originals before reconciling these profiles. The senior 1819 George is not assigned to this younger officer.

The unique full name George Mark Glasgow in the Royal Artillery traces one career: London Gazette 18 Jan 1825 (2nd Lt to be 1st Lt, dated 15 Nov 1824); London Gazette 8 Feb 1825 (1st Lt from half-pay to be 1st Lt, dated 26 Dec 1824; this is the notice transcribed in Freeman's Journal); Times 12 Apr 1843 (2nd Capt to be Captain vice Raynes); Monthly Army List Jan 1849 (captain vice George Mark Glasgow, retired, 15 Feb 1849). The Spectator of 1 Mar 1851 and the Gentleman's Magazine of Apr 1851 report his death on 26 Jan 1851: 'At Kingston, Canada West, George Mark Glasgow, late Captain Royal Artillery, son of the late General Glasgow, of the same corps.' Glasgow-3785 is George Mark Glasgow, b. Quebec 15 Feb 1795, d. 1851 Kingston, Canada West, wife Ann (Herkimer/Herchmer), son Charles (Glasgow-3786). - Glasgow-3785 (George Mark Glasgow) — son of — Lt-Gen George Glasgow RA (d. 28 Oct 1820); no WikiTree profile yet (draft from groups 1050144942/1050057308): **add confident** (WikiTree now: not linked (Glasgow-3785 has no parents)). This is not in the 1825 notice itself. The Spectator, 1 March 1851: 'On the 26th, at Kingston, Canada West, George Mark Glasgow, late Captain Royal Artillery, son of the late General Glasgow, of the same corps.' Only one General Glasgow of the RA existed (DCB). He served at Quebec, where George Mark was born in 1795, and DCB says eight of his nine children were born in Canada. Both profiles are Capt. George Mark Glasgow RA. Glasgow-3127's death before 1846 is a misreading of Walford's 'the late' (written 1860 or later). A merge review is proposed. Madeline (m. 1846 George Nevile of Stubton, 'dau. of ... George Mark Glasgow, Esq., Capt. R.A.') would then be a daughter of Glasgow-3785. - [The Waterford Mirror, 1825-02-14, p.3](https://www.newspapers.com/image/60324711/): George Mark Glasgow (Royal Artillery officer) — **possible** match. Askwith's RA index has a single 'Glasgow, G. M.' (p.45), so only one RA officer bore the name; Glasgow-3127 (biography: Captain RA, deceased by 1846, father of Madeline) and Glasgow-3785 (b. 15 Feb 1795 Quebec; d. 6 Jan 1851 Kingston, Canada West) cannot both be him unless they are duplicates, and the '1846 late' claim on 3127 conflicts with 3785's 1851 death - one of those claims is wrong. 3785 is listed first because the DCB shows Captain George Glasgow RA commanding a company at Quebec from Oct 1794 with eight of his nine children born in Canada, and an RA officer's son born at Quebec in Feb 1795 who died at the garrison town of Kingston fits an artillery career - context, not proof. Glasgow-1536 (Barony 1804, son of Robert Glasgow and Margaret Brash) has no Mark and no service link - weak. Source findings — Royal Artillery promotion, 16 January 1837

An Office of Ordnance list dated 16 January 1837 names First Lieutenant George Mark Glasgow, Royal Artillery, to be Second Captain, vice Freer; George Carter Evelegh succeeds him as First Lieutenant. It was reprinted in [Freeman’s Journal and Daily Commercial Advertiser, 21 January 1837, p.2](https://www.newspapers.com/image/1050121684/) and [Belfast News-Letter, 24 January 1837, p.1](https://www.newspapers.com/image/390543080/) (original newspaper images, read in the 6 October 2026 newspaper identity review). The notice gives no age, birthplace or family.

The step fills the gap between the 1824–25 lieutenancy notices and the 1843 captaincy recorded above. The ledger grades the officer as probably Glasgow-3127 and very probably also this profile (a likely duplicate pair, merge not yet reviewed); the same promotion is recorded in [Glasgow-3127's findings](../Glasgow-3127/findings.md).
