GLASGOW—LEATHEM. WEDDING AT POKENO. (Own Correspondent).. 
A wedding of considerable interest to the residents of the district took place at the Presbyterian Church, Pokeno, on Wednesday last, the contracting parties being Miss Rebe Leathern, second daughter of Mr and Mrs C. J. Leathern, of Pokeno, and Mr Hugh Esdale Glasgow, son of the late Mr and Mrs J. Glasgow, of Thames. The Rev. D. B. Stewart officiated. ….The.church had been prettily decorated, and the large congregation present testified to the popularity, of the young people. The wedding reception was held in the school hall, the breakfast, which was of a substantial and dainty variety, being done full justice to by the large number of relatives and friends numbering nearly one hundred, many of whom had come a long distance. The hall and the tables had been very nicely decorated by friends of the bride, the colour scheme throughout being of pink, blue and cream. A large lattice-worked canopy of coloured streamers had been formed over the bridal table by Miss Peacock, and enhanced the effect of the spectacle. A number of girl friends of the bride, and those belonging to the tennis club Leathern had been a member, acted as waitresses. The usual toasts were honoured. The bride was the recipient of a most beautiful array, of wedding presents. . The happy couple left by train in the evening for the south, the bride travelling in a blue frock, with grey hat to match, and a beautiful fox fur.
In the evening a dance was given in the hall by Mr and Mrs Leathem to the general public, to celebrate the event. A very large number were present and many very beautiful frocks were worn. Mr J. Watts, of Mercer, supplied the music. Mr Hulme, of Pukekohe, also gave extras. The electric light, which had been turned on for the first time in Pokeno, was an added delight, and warm praise was accorded to those responsible, and for working so hard in order that the light could be used for this special event.
