David Glasgow, the prominent watchmaker and horological writer born at
Coleraine in 1824, remains a possible member of Daniel's family.

The circumstantial case is:

* David was born before Robert and James;
* Coleraine was close to Kilrea;
* David followed the same specialised trade as Daniel;
* James's description as Daniel's third son requires two older sons.

However, no source has been found naming Daniel and Margaret as David's
parents or naming David as Robert's brother.

David should not be attached as Robert's brother until a civil marriage
record, obituary, apprenticeship record, will or other contemporary
source proves the relationship.

Kilrea should therefore be used as Robert's birthplace unless examination
of the original register shows that the residence statement applied only
to his parents and that he was born elsewhere.

Because the entry provides an exact birth date, Robert's birth should not
be entered merely as “about 1827”.

Margaret as Daniel's wife. No marriage entry for Daniel and Margaret has
yet been located.

The spelling ''Glasco'' is treated as a variant or printing error for
Glasgow because Daniel appears as Glasgow in the church, valuation,
newspaper and probate records.

Robert may have learned his father's trade, but no evidence has been
found identifying Robert as a watchmaker, clockmaker or apprentice. No
occupation should therefore be entered.

Daniel was later recorded as an occupier at Church Street, Kilrea, and
at Claragh in Griffith's Valuation.<ref name="GriffithKilrea">Fáilte

A contemporary death notice establishes that Daniel had at least three
sons.

Daniel's son James Glasgow died at Brooklyn, New York, on 21 January
1853. The notice described James as an artist, aged about twenty-four,

unrelated or unproved Irish and Scottish families.

He should not be merged with another Robert Glasgow merely because that

* was a watchmaker or other craftsman;
* emigrated to the United States, Canada, Scotland, England or Australia;
* had relatives named Daniel, James or Margaret.

A later record should contain at least two or more identifying features,

* Kilrea as birthplace or residence;
* Daniel Glasgow named as father;
* Margaret Irwin named as mother;

A separate Robert Glasgow was living with Alexander and Mary Glasgow at

David Glasgow, the prominent watchmaker and horological writer born at
Coleraine in 1824, remains a possible member of Daniel's family.

The circumstantial case is:

* David was born before Robert and James;
* Coleraine was close to Kilrea;
* David followed the same specialised trade as Daniel;
* James's description as Daniel's third son requires two older sons.

However, no source has been found naming Daniel and Margaret as David's
parents or naming David as Robert's brother.

David should not be attached as Robert's brother until a civil marriage
record, obituary, apprenticeship record, will or other contemporary
source proves the relationship.

No secure identification was found among the currently located:

* Kilrea Presbyterian marriage extracts;
* Kilrea Griffith's Valuation entries;
* Irish probate-calendar entries;
* published County Londonderry newspaper extracts;

* obvious United States records connected with James Glasgow at

A negative online search does not prove that Robert died young or left
no descendants. Many relevant church, estate, migration and newspaper
