Replace the research note saying that Nancy Glasgow registered Alexander’s 1888 death: the informant reads Mary Glasgow, so Ann is not in question.

Current profile38The Nancy Glasgow who registered Alexander Glasgow's death at Gortahar in 1888 should not presently be identified as Ann. The death entry calls Nancy the deceased's daughter, but Ann had married Robert McCracken in 1876 and no record yet shows that Nancy was her alternative name or that Ann later used Glasgow rather than McCracken. Nancy may have been a separate daughter.
Replacement profile36The informant who registered Alexander Glasgow's death at Gortahar in 1888 was formerly read here as Nancy Glasgow and compared with Ann. Read against the same registrar's other entries, the forename is Mary: it matches his "Mary" in three nearby entries and differs from his "Nancy" in a fourth. The informant, "Mary Glasgow, daughter", is therefore not Ann. She was most probably Ann's sister Mary, by then Mrs Elder of Gortahar, entered under her maiden surname. The online image is the registrar's quarterly copy; the local register has not been viewed.
