Biography
Thomas Glascoe signed a STOP THIEF notice dated 9 April 1799, reporting $115 stolen from his house on Tinicum Island, within four miles of old Chester on the Delaware, on 31 March. He accused a man calling himself William Steel and offered $20 for recovery of the money, or $15 for the thief only. The notice appeared on 9 April and was reprinted on 11 April.[1][2]
Research Notes
Thomas is the advertiser and reported victim, not the alleged thief. The notice states his residence but no age, birth, death, spouse, parents or children. Chronologically compatible Thomas Glasco profiles in Dublin remain possible namesakes; no migration or Delaware identity bridge has been found. Reprints represent one reported event. No inheritance or family relationship is established.

The notice establishes a householder Thomas Glascoe with a house on Tinicum Island in April 1799. The previous candidates Glasco-173 (b. c.1742), Glasco-144 (b. c.1753) and Glasco-143 (b. c.1766) are all recorded as born in Dublin, with no migration, Pennsylvania or Delaware record, so they are unlikely. WikiTree searches for Thomas Glasgow, Glasco and Glascoe born 1720–1780 found no American Thomas. The USGenWeb partial 1790 Philadelphia transcription has no Glasgow or Glascoe, and no Tinicum record was found online. A profile draft is warranted: the notice gives a dated residence and household, and a Kingsessing Glascoe (group 586545170) points to a local family worth reconstructing.
