Biography

Thomas Glasgow, Kentucky, is named in a list of letters remaining at the Lexington post office, printed 24 January 1799. Thomas is a named addressee, and Kentucky the geographic qualifier. The Lexington post-office heading is preserved separately. The notice says uncollected letters would be returned after three months; no collection, occupation, age, household or exact residence is proved. No existing profile is identified. Glasgow-3592 and Glasgow-1620 are weak chronology-only comparisons with no Kentucky or correspondence bridge. Other compatible namesakes remain open; a birthplace or absent migration field is not an exclusion.[1]

Research Notes

No existing profile is identified. Glasgow-3592 and Glasgow-1620 are weak chronology-only comparisons with no Kentucky or correspondence bridge. Other compatible namesakes remain open; a birthplace or absent migration field is not an exclusion.

Two bounded QMD searches and exact-name public profile date screen checked; 51 public exact-name profiles, not an exhaustive external genealogy search.

Glasgow-1382, Glasgow-1243, Glasgow-3646 and Glasgow-3602 remain weaker chronology-compatible namesakes without a Kentucky bridge. Neither Scottish/Irish birthplace nor missing fields excludes them.

Glasgow-3943’s recorded exact 1725 death and Glasgow-3347’s recorded exact 1800 birth conflict if correctly attributed. Glasgow-1103’s estimated c.1675 death and Glasgow-3285’s recorded 1684 birth are exceptionally poor chronological fits; estimated death is not treated as an exact exclusion.

Glasgow-3592: Recorded exact 1 May 1777 Rathdowney birth permits age21 in1799; Irish birthplace and inherited family provide no Kentucky or postal identity bridge. Glasgow-1620: Recorded exact 8 September1761 Currie birth permits adulthood; estimated c.1834 Midlothian death is not exact, and no Kentucky bridge is supplied.

The entry gives only the name and 'Kentucky'. Glasgow-3592 (Thomas, b. 1 May 1777, Rathdowney, Queen's County) has an Irish family context and no migration record: unlikely. Glasgow-1620 (Thomas, b. 1761 Currie, Midlothian) is recorded as dying in Midlothian about 1834, and his life is recorded in Scotland: unlikely. The other WikiTree Thomases born 1720–1780 are Scottish baptisms (1382, 1413, 1023, 4109) or Dublin-born Glascos (Glasco-143, 144, 173), none with an American record. No Kentucky Thomas Glasgow, Glasco or Glascoe exists on WikiTree. A draft would be needed to represent him, but one postal entry is too thin to found a profile. Next step: Kentucky tax lists, 1790s (Fayette and neighbouring counties).

- [Kentucky Gazette, 1799-01-24, p.3](https://www.newspapers.com/image/1181678638/): Thomas Glasgow, 'Kentucky', is listed among letters remaining at the Lexington post office (printed 24 January 1799). No WikiTree profile fits: the two prior comparisons are Irish- and Scottish-recorded men with no Kentucky link, and one died in Scotland.

Searches: WikiTree searchPerson via API for Thomas Glasgow, Thomas Glasco and Thomas Glascoe (births 1720–1780, paged): only Scottish/Irish-born Thomases and the Dublin Glasco profiles (Glasco-143, 144, 173).
