Biography
A Lancaster Goal notice dated 13 October says John M’Connel, about 35, imprisoned as a suspected runaway servant, claims to belong to William Glascoe in Maryland, about forty miles from Baltimore. William is the attributed master, not the jailed man. John Carson belongs to a separate prisoner’s account. No link to the 1760 defendant, a shipmaster, or a family is proved. [1]
Research Notes
Known through a jailed man’s attributed statement; no connection to the 1760 London defendant is established.
Find the Lancaster jail register and Maryland tax, servant and land records. Establish identity independently before merging with any transported defendant or maritime William.

'About forty miles from Baltimore' fits north-eastern Maryland (Cecil County's Charlestown/Elkton district, or Harford). A servant-holding William Glasgow there in 1775 fits the Cecil County William named among the children of James Glasgow Sr. (d. 1784) in Cecil probate (MSA SC 3520-17195) - the same unprofiled William as group 41041559 - but the claim comes from a jailed man and names no kin, so that identity is only possible. Duplicate searches for William Glasgow/Glascoe/Glasco/Glascow found no profile with any Maryland presence. Any profile draft should be the single Cecil County William proposed under group 41041559, not a second one.
