Reported events, notices, advertisements and letters. OCR matches need visual checking; place names, vessels and matches to other surnames are excluded from Glasgow surname evidence.
Availability depends on the particular repository, locality, date range and record series. We have not established complete coverage for this collection. Follow each provider link for its holdings and access terms; a missing result is not proof of absence.
Reading the evidence: an index, transcript, provider search page and original image are different sources. A recorded image link does not mean its reading or identity match is confirmed. Inspect the assessment and source page before changing a family relationship. Repository guides checked 4 October 2026.

How to read these notices
Cards lead with the person named in the notice; profile candidates are assessed separately. Birth cutoffs labelled “by c.” are estimates, usually assuming an adult professional was at least 18; open the birth note for the basis. Event groups are broad navigation aids built from each notice’s record type. A relationship filter identifies family wording in the notice, not a proved match to a WikiTree family.
Named as master of the Lady Forbes, carrying rum for Waterford; the vessel was driven ashore near Sutton and the crew were saved.
Birth estimate / source
Age is not printed; inferred only as an adult lower bound from the stated professional role (ship master), assuming age 18 or older by the 1768 issue year.

What the notice says
“The Lady Forbes, of Glasgow, William Glasgow, Master, with Rum for Waterford, was drove on Shore near Sutton, but the Crew were saved.”
Evidence and identity limits
William Glasgow is explicitly the master’s personal name; “of Glasgow” separately describes the vessel. Personal origin, age and family are unstated. No identification with the unnamed Glasgow captain of the brig William in 1796 is justified. Identity review (6 October 2026): Freeman's Journal 23 Jan 1768: the Lady Forbes, of Glasgow, William Glasgow master, carrying rum for Waterford, was driven ashore near Sutton and the crew were saved. The master is a real named William Glasgow. At least a dozen compatible William Glasgow profiles exist and nothing in the notice prefers one, so no identification is made.

What the notice says
The marriage column names Mr. Phil. Glasco the younger, of Christ-church-lane, watchmaker, and Miss Teresa Plunkett of Church-street.
Evidence and identity limits
The rare name, younger designation, trade, address and bride agree with the existing Philip junior evidence draft and compatible profile Glasgow-3932. This original corroborates the marriage reported in the Public Gazetteer extraction dated 17 September 1768; it does not itself supply that exact wedding date or prove his father. Keep him separate from the elder Philip and the later surname-only watchmaker. OCR Glafco represents printed Glasco. Identity review (6 October 2026): Freeman's Journal 20 Sep 1768 marriage of Mr. Phil. Glasco the younger, watchmaker of Christ-church-lane, to Miss Teresa Plunkett of Church-street. Both people already exist and are already linked as spouses on WikiTree: Glasco-147 and Plunkett-2805. Glasgow-3932 is a duplicate of the groom.
The rare name, 'the younger', the watchmaking trade, Christ-church-lane and the bride all agree. Glasco-147 is already married on WikiTree to Plunkett-2805 (Teresa Plunkett), whose biography cites the 1768 Public Gazetteer extraction of this marriage. Glasco-147 is defined by the 1772 intestacy of 'Philip Glasco, the younger, Dublin, watchmaker'. Glasgow-3932 is the same man (duplicate, no spouse, biography now overwritten with an unrelated Kilrea text). See group 1050029120.
Plunkett-2805 (Teresa Plunkett / Glasco, b. before 1750, Co. Dublin, d. after 1771, spouse Glasco-147, child Glasco-174) was created from this marriage. Her biography quotes the Public Gazetteer: 'Mr. Philip Glasco Jnr of Christchurch-yard, Watchmaker, to the agreeable Miss Teresa Plunkett of Church-street'. The name, the street and the groom all agree, and no other Teresa Plunkett of the period exists on WikiTree (Plunkett-829, b. 1765 Westmeath, is too young and from a different place).
