Reported events, notices, advertisements and letters. OCR matches need visual checking; place names, vessels and matches to other surnames are excluded from Glasgow surname evidence.
Availability depends on the particular repository, locality, date range and record series. We have not established complete coverage for this collection. Follow each provider link for its holdings and access terms; a missing result is not proof of absence.
Reading the evidence: an index, transcript, provider search page and original image are different sources. A recorded image link does not mean its reading or identity match is confirmed. Inspect the assessment and source page before changing a family relationship. Repository guides checked 4 October 2026.

How to read these notices
Cards lead with the person named in the notice; profile candidates are assessed separately. Birth cutoffs labelled “by c.” are estimates, usually assuming an adult professional was at least 18; open the birth note for the basis. Event groups are broad navigation aids built from each notice’s record type. A relationship filter identifies family wording in the notice, not a proved match to a WikiTree family.

What the notice says
Claggan Presbyterian Church opening on 15 October: Wm. Glasgow among Cookstown collectors and Cookstown donors in the 10-shillings-each list. Inishrush labels James M’Caw separately.
Evidence and identity limits
Cookstown is supplied by the shared group punctuation; the separate Inishrush entry concerns James M’Caw. No age, trade or kin is stated. The occurrence is unassigned among the same-name Cookstown accounts and does not identify the later uncle or younger mill partner. Identity review (6 October 2026): Belfast News-Letter, 10 Nov 1846: Wm. Glasgow is among the Cookstown collectors and donors at the opening of Claggan Presbyterian Church. He cannot be identified.

What the notice says
Position 1 (place): In “Ship News,” a 13 February entry reads “Sea-King (st.), Gowen, Glasgow”; Glasgow follows steamer/master information as its port/place. Other vessel entries are adjacent. What the notice says
Position 6 (place): A County Antrim road-contract notice proposes a new road from Rasharkin to Randalstown, between Samuel Morrell’s house and Chapel-lane. Rasharkin is a route endpoint, not a Glasgow surname occurrence in this notice. The road item is legible in the saved original. A separate Glasgow highlight appears in a different, adjacent-column advertisement; it is not part of this road notice. This review is limited to the Rasharkin position and makes no page-wide exclusion.

What the notice says
Position 2 (place): A Belfast Medical School report lists candidates awarded diplomas after examination by Dr. Burden’s class, with associated localities including Malone, Crumlin, Ballyclare, Newtownards, Belfast, Rathfriland, Portglenone, Portadown and Rasharkin. Rasharkin appears as a place at the list’s end; no Glasgow surname is visible in this passage. The clipping shows the complete medical-school item through its end, though Rasharkin is a dangling terminal locality without a visible associated name. Do not infer which candidate, if any, it qualifies. No Glasgow person is shown in the reviewed passage; this is not a full-page exclusion.

Position 4 (place): A county road-contract notice places Rasharkin on a proposed road route; an adjacent steam-packet advertisement is separate from the road passage. Page loaded and is legible. Handwritten marks cross part of the road text; no loading failure. What the notice says
Position 3 (place): County of Antrim road tenders include a new-road line from the Cullybackey area to Kilrea via Rasharkin. In the separate right column, Glasgow appears in transport-agent addresses at Enoch’s Square and the company offices, and in horse/livestock accommodation information; these are city references, not a surname. Wider replacement capture is loaded and shows the road-tender passage and adjacent transport references. Handwriting still obscures some exact road wording; this does not affect the visible Rasharkin locality or the separation of the Glasgow city references. Position 7 (place): A railway/steamer notice advertises passengers to Glasgow and Paisley, rail connections from Glasgow, fares between Belfast and Glasgow, and a livestock holding place at Glasgow station. The highlighted Glasgow is the Scottish city. No material clipping in the captured passage; the commercial notice is legible. Position 9 (place): The same railway/steamer notice gives fares between Belfast and Glasgow or Paisley and says to apply to McKean & Lamont at Glasgow or the Ayrshire Railway Company's Glasgow and Paisley offices. Glasgow is the Scottish city. No material clipping in the captured passage; fare and office lines are legible.

What the notice says
Position 2 (other): Charles Lanyon's county surveyor report discusses a proposed road from Cullybackey toward Ballymena and the old road near the Globe at Rasharkin; it gives comparative distance and cost. This is a local-road reference, not a person named Glasgow. The captured column passage is legible; page viewport crops neighboring columns, but not the relevant local-road text. Position 3 (other): In the same surveyor's report, the listed grant is to improve the road from Rasharkin to Kilrea, with £350 allocated. Rasharkin is a locality; no Glasgow person or vessel is in the captured passage. No material clipping in the relevant line; the allocation and route are legible.

What the notice says
Position 5 (place): In a Bill for Drainage of Lough Neagh notice, the scheduled works include land in the parish of Rasharkin, in the barony of Kilconway, County Antrim; neighboring parish/townland names follow. Image loaded and passage legible; crop shows surrounding schedule text. No material clipping at the highlighted place. Position 6 (vessel): Steam-packet advertisement headed ‘For Greenock and Glasgow’; it names the Clyde Steam Navigation Company's vessels, including Thetis, Captain William Stewart, sailing from Belfast. A later ‘From Glasgow’ heading gives return sailings. Image loaded and advertisement legible; the passage is sufficiently visible to identify Glasgow as route destination/origin, not a person. Position 7 (vessel): Continuation of the steam-packet advertisement: sailing schedule under ‘From Glasgow,’ followed by cabin/steerage fares and shipping-agent information for the advertised steamers. Image loaded; visible continuation is legible, with no relevant text clipped. Glasgow is a route place. Position 8 (place): In the Lough Neagh drainage bill's townland/parish schedule, ‘Culmore, Gortoreagh, and Tamlaght, in the parish of Kilconway’ is followed by ‘Rasharkin, in the barony of Kilconway’ and a list of townlands. Image loaded and schedule legible; highlighted place is visible with surrounding locality list. No material clipping. Position 9 (place): “First Class Steam Packets for Greenock, Glasgow & Carlisle”; “For Glasgow, calling at Greenock”; “From Glasgow”; Glasgow agents listed below. Position 9 (place): “First Class Steam Packets for Greenock, Glasgow & Carlisle”; “For Glasgow, calling at Greenock”; schedule from Belfast; “From Glasgow”; agents in Glasgow at 9 Buchanan-street.
