Reported events, notices, advertisements and letters. OCR matches need visual checking; place names, vessels and matches to other surnames are excluded from Glasgow surname evidence.
Availability depends on the particular repository, locality, date range and record series. We have not established complete coverage for this collection. Follow each provider link for its holdings and access terms; a missing result is not proof of absence.
Reading the evidence: an index, transcript, provider search page and original image are different sources. A recorded image link does not mean its reading or identity match is confirmed. Inspect the assessment and source page before changing a family relationship. Repository guides checked 4 October 2026.

How to read these notices
Cards lead with the person named in the notice; profile candidates are assessed separately. Birth cutoffs labelled “by c.” are estimates, usually assuming an adult professional was at least 18; open the birth note for the basis. Event groups are broad navigation aids built from each notice’s record type. A relationship filter identifies family wording in the notice, not a proved match to a WikiTree family.

Evidence and identity limits
Strong match to John-2542. The inspected gravestone calls John son of the Benjamin who died 8 February 1870, identifying father-2059. George is a new middle name; proposed previously ungraded father link → Confident remains unsaved. Mother is not named in the newspaper. Identity review (6 October 2026): Death notice (Belfast News-Letter, 6 Aug 1857): John George Glasgow, infant son of Benjamin Glasgow of Cookstown, died 4 August 1857 aged six months. This is firmly Glasgow-2542, son of Benjamin-2059, and supports raising that father link (now uncertain) to confident.
[b. c. 1857-01; d. 1857-08-04] · deceased infantWhy this candidate?
Exact death date 4 Aug 1857 and age six months agree with the profile and the headstone it cites, which names the Benjamin who died 8 Feb 1870. The middle name George is new to WikiTree.
[b. c. 1835; d. 1870-02-08] · fatherWhy this candidate?
Benjamin-2059 married Jane Little, daughter of George Little, in April 1856, and his headstone carries this child. The Drapersfield Benjamin (Glasgow-4340) did not marry until 1864, so he is excluded.
