Coverage, survival & limitations

Availability depends on the particular repository, locality, date range and record series. We have not established complete coverage for this collection. Follow each provider link for its holdings and access terms; a missing result is not proof of absence.

Reading the evidence: an index, transcript, provider search page and original image are different sources. A recorded image link does not mean its reading or identity match is confirmed. Inspect the assessment and source page before changing a family relationship. Repository guides checked 4 October 2026.

Reviewed newspaper notices

How to read these notices

Cards lead with the person named in the notice; profile candidates are assessed separately. Birth cutoffs labelled “by c.” are estimates, usually assuming an adult professional was at least 18; open the birth note for the basis. Event groups are broad navigation aids built from each notice’s record type. A relationship filter identifies family wording in the notice, not a proved match to a WikiTree family.

What the notice says

Cheque for £71 12s 7d drawn by Benjamin and William Glasgow in favour of John Finlay junior, mentioned in William Adair case.

Evidence and identity limits

Business partnership confirmed; age and relatives unstated. William Adair is another person. Identity review (6 October 2026): Court report (Belfast News-Letter, 11 Aug 1866): a cheque for £71 12s 7d drawn by Benjamin and William Glasgow in favour of John Finlay junior is mentioned in the William Adair case. It is the Drapersfield partnership: Benjamin is probably Glasgow-4340, and William is unresolved. No kin are stated.

Who this may be

· joint drawer of cheque (firm)
Why this candidate?

The joint 'Benjamin and William Glasgow' signature matches the Drapersfield Mills partnership of 1858-1864 (chain in group 390574459), but no place is given, hence probable.

[b. c. 1796; d. 1883-07-04] · joint drawer of cheque (firm)
Why this candidate?

As group 390575046: probably an unprofiled brother (son of Robert), or else the uncle 3814. 1737 is unlikely.
