Reported events, notices, advertisements and letters. OCR matches need visual checking; place names, vessels and matches to other surnames are excluded from Glasgow surname evidence.
Availability depends on the particular repository, locality, date range and record series. We have not established complete coverage for this collection. Follow each provider link for its holdings and access terms; a missing result is not proof of absence.
Reading the evidence: an index, transcript, provider search page and original image are different sources. A recorded image link does not mean its reading or identity match is confirmed. Inspect the assessment and source page before changing a family relationship. Repository guides checked 4 October 2026.

How to read these notices
Cards lead with the person named in the notice; profile candidates are assessed separately. Birth cutoffs labelled “by c.” are estimates, usually assuming an adult professional was at least 18; open the birth note for the basis. Event groups are broad navigation aids built from each notice’s record type. A relationship filter identifies family wording in the notice, not a proved match to a WikiTree family.

Evidence and identity limits
Alphabetical postal-letter list, not a roster of residents or an advertisement. The printed long-s glyph in Glasſgow is the f-shaped character that can yield OCR Glafgow; the normalized surname reading is Glasgow. Cecil County immediately follows this entry. This is a distinct issue-page occurrence; no identity link to other Williams is inferred. Postal addressee, not proof of continuous residence, age, occupation, family, or identity across these issues. Identity review (6 October 2026): William Glasgow, Cecil County, Philadelphia letter list 1759. No WikiTree William Glasgow has any documented Maryland or Cecil County presence; the four previously listed Williams are Scottish/Irish baptism or tree profiles, one of which (Glasgow-3326) is documented in Larne in 1772 and 1783. No match above possible.

Only name + Cecil County. Glasgow-2426 (b. c.1735 'Moneymore', d. c.1829 USA; tree-sourced, no American record) is the only William with any American context, and that context is unproved. Glasgow-4101 (bap. 1733 Dundonald) and Glasgow-4120 (bap. 1723 Irvine) are baptism-only profiles: compatible but nothing points to Maryland. Glasgow-3326 (b. 1730 Kilwaughter) is unlikely: his profile documents him in Larne signing a 1772 petition and in a 1783 Larne will index. MSA's biography of Samuel Glasgow (SC 3520-17195) reports, from Cecil County probate, a William among the children of James Glasgow Sr. (d. 1784) and Ann of Cecil County - but those children were born from c.1749, so that William w
