Biography

Malcolm, son of John de Glasgu, received payment for a royal debt in a Scottish Exchequer account rendered at Perth on 26 March 1394.[1]

Documented father: John de Glasgu (fl. 1394). The Exchequer entry directly calls Malcolm his son.
Possible son: John de Glasgu, Glasgow burgess (c.1425–after 1455). Malcolm is the strongest preceding-generation candidate for the burgess, although no record names Malcolm's children.

The Latin `Malcolmo filio Johannis de Glasgu` proves Malcolm's father was John and that John bore the Glasgow designation. It does not state that Malcolm himself used Glasgow as a byname or hereditary surname.

Research Notes

The entry gives no occupation, mother, residence or further family. Malcolm should not be counted as a direct bearer of `de Glasgu` unless another record applies the name to him.
