Biography

John de Glasgu was the father of Malcolm, who received payment for a royal debt in a Scottish Exchequer account rendered at Perth on 26 March 1394. The entry reads `Malcolmo filio Johannis de Glasgu`.[1]

Possible father: John de Glasgu, royal-account payee (fl. 1343). The fifty-one-year interval and continued royal-account setting make him the strongest earlier candidate, but the records do not identify them as father and son.
Documented son: Malcolm (fl. 1394). The Exchequer entry directly states this relationship.

The grammar directly identifies John as Malcolm's father and applies `de Glasgu` to John. It does not style Malcolm `de Glasgu`.

Research Notes

No office, property or associate identifies this John with the 1343 payee or Master John, chancellor of Dunkeld.
