Biography

John de Glasgu received 7s 6d in a Scottish Exchequer account in 1343 concerning the board or table of certain royal servants.[1]

Possible father: John of Glasgow, Holyrood religious (fl. 1299). He is the closest earlier John with the same personal locative and is chronologically able to belong to the preceding generation.
Possible son: John de Glasgu, father of Malcolm (fl. 1394). The repeated name and royal-account context make this a useful working line, though no kinship is stated.

The entry gives no office. Descriptions such as caterer or steward would be conjectural.

Research Notes

Thirty-four years separate this payment from the first secure record of Master John, chancellor of Dunkeld. No repeated office, associate, benefice or patron joins them, so they remain separate identities.
