It therefore does not prove that Janet was his daughter; the father link is retained only as uncertain pending a better placement.

An earlier profile version placed Janet's death at Elgin, Illinois, in 1775. This is impossible because Elgin was founded in 1835; the city history is retained below as evidence for excluding that location.
