Daniel T Glasgow

Biography
Daniel T. Glasgow was born in Ireland about 1834 or 1835. He was an artist and lithographer who worked in New York before returning to Kilrea, County Londonderry, where he died in 1858.

The middle initial T is documented, but its full form has not been identified. Parentage
Daniel was described in his obituary as Daniel Glasgow, Jr. and died at Kilrea, where the elder Daniel Glasgow lived. The elder Daniel may therefore be attached as his father.

Margaret Irwin is attached as Daniel's uncertain mother. Margaret and the elder Daniel were the documented parents of Robert Glasgow at Kilrea in 1827, and no other wife or mother has been identified. Artistic career
Daniel emigrated to the United States and worked for the New York lithographic firm William Endicott & Company. His older brother James Irvin Glasgow worked for the same firm. 

Daniel was particularly regarded as a watercolour painter. His obituary stated that, had he lived, he might have become one of the leading painters in watercolours among his circle. 

A pencil landscape titled Brook is attributed to Daniel in the John Mackie Falconer Album, held by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. The undated drawing measures approximately 3⅜ by 3¼ inches. 
Death
Daniel died at Kilrea on 29 January 1858 from consumption, the historical term generally used for tuberculosis. 

He was described as being in the twenty-fourth year of his age, indicating that he was about twenty-three. This places his birth between approximately 30 January 1834 and 29 January 1835.

No burial record, gravestone, probate record, spouse or children have been identified.
Research Notes
The dissertation gives Daniel's lifespan as 1835–1858, while the contemporary obituary places his birth in 1834 or early 1835. A birth date of about 1834 or about 1835 is therefore appropriate.

Margaret Irwin should remain attached as an uncertain mother because no located record explicitly names her as Daniel's mother.
