John was born 21 Jan 1844, christened 2 Jan 1845 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland. His parents were John Glasgow and Christina Forsyth. In 1851 John was a scholar living at 37 Aitchison Street New Monkland with his parents, siblings and granny. (Scotland Census 1851; Parish: New Monkland; ED:8; Page:16; Line:14; Roll: cssct1851_170) 

John's mother died in 1858.

In 1859 John Glasgow and Mary Ann Little had a daughter. (Scotland Statutory Births 651/01 0374 Airdrie) They did not marry. Mary Ann Little raised a paternity order against John. (Birth no 374: In an order relating to the paternity of a child named Margaret Calder Little, born 27 June 1859 at the insistence of Ann Little, residing at 24 Bell Street, Airdrie against John Glasgow a miner, Aitchison Street, Airdrie. The Sheriff Substitute of Lanark has Judice upon 1st August 1859 pronounced that the said child was the illegitimate child of the parties forsaid.(August 3rd 1859) 

In 1861 John was a coal miner living at 45 Aitchison Street New Monklands with his father and siblings (Scotland Census 1861; Parish: New Monkland; ED:7; Page:11; Line:8; Roll:cssct1861_117) 

In 1871 John was living at 3 McPhee Land Shotts with his sister Isabella and her husband and child. Two of his brothers lived there also. They had a general servant living with them. The men were all coal miners (Scotland Census 1871; Parish: Shotts: ED:5 ; Page: 13; Line: 10; Roll: cssct1871_119) 

John married Isabella Hamilton 15 Mar 1872 in Torbothie Cambusnethen Scotland. At the time he was a coal miner living at Dykehead Shotts. (Scotland Statutory Marriages 626/0B 0010) 

They emigrated, in 1879, to Sydney New South Wales.

John Forsyth Glasgow passed away 8 Jul 1913 in Minmi , New South Wales, Australia.
