James Glasgow

Biography
Diamond Wedding; Mr & Mrs Glasgow - Mr & Mrs J Glasgow of Papakura, celebrated their diamond wedding on Saturday. A large number of their family & friends gather at their residence in honour of the event.
Mr Glasgow is the youngest son of the late Mr & Mrs William Glasgow, of Montolier, Ireland, & he was married on June 29, 1875, at the Presbyterian Church at Orritor, County Tyrone, Ireland. Mrs Glasgow was formerly Miss Margaret Dougall, third daughter of the late Mr and Mrs T Dougall, of Killycurragh. About a week after their wedding Mr & Mrs Glasgow left for New Zealand on the sailing ship 'British Empire'.
On arrival at Auckland Mr & Mrs Glasgow first took up their residence at Epsom. Mr Glasgow worked principally for the late Mr Dilworth, being in charge of stock on his farm at Onehunga. The old punt service had then only recently been abandoned and a wooden bridge erected, giving access to Mangere. Mr Glasgow took up a farm just across the bridge. From there he commenced a dairy supply, serving the Onehunga district. This was carried on by his family for over 40years. Mr Glasgow served for a number of years as a member of the Mangere Road Board & the Mangere School committee. His principal interest, however, was in the Presbyterian Church at Onehunga.
Fifteen years ago Mr & Mrs Glasgow moved to Papakura. of a family of 11 Children, 10 are living.
