Janet's 1772 Auchterderran baptism directly names Alexander Penman and Helen McKenzies as her parents. Their 1769 Auchterderran marriage independently names the couple as Alexr Penman and Hellan McKinniss. Hellan McKinniss (McKinniss-12) was created and attached as Janet's confident mother on 2 September 2026.
Alexander Penman is now treated as a probable but uncertain identification with Alexander Penman (Penman-1898). The candidate has the exact 1747 Auchterderran baptism and later children with Helen Beveridge, while Janet's 1772 baptism and the 1769 marriage establish an earlier Alexander Penman/Hellan McKinniss family in the same parish. A second marriage before the 1781 Beveridge child is chronologically plausible. This does not prove that the two family groups are the same man, so the father link is retained as uncertain pending an inspected marriage or original register image.
