Biography
An Edinburgh city-gaol report names Robert Glasgow among prisoners convicted of theft and reports their sentence of public exposure and banishment from the city and liberties forever. Original inspected. The notice reports conviction and sentence; it does not establish later removal or identity with any other Robert Glasgow. Two compatible Scottish profiles remain weak possibilities. No identity with the 1772 Robert son of Andrew at Calder, Maryland sale participant or Montgreenan man is established.[1]
Research Notes

Bounded public catalogue/QMD check; chronology and geography are leads, not identity evidence. Current tree parents are unverified and are not evidence about this prisoner.
Glasgow-1445: Uncertain birth before 13 February 1735 at Kirknewton/East Calder permits an adult in Edinburgh in 1767. No criminal-record identifier joins him to this prisoner. Glasgow-2473: Uncertain birth before 7 January 1703 at Edinburgh permits an older adult in 1767. This upper birth bound is not an exact baptism or age; no court or banishment identity bridge.

Record bridge between the two Edinburgh notices: the 21 Dec 1767 sentence banishes 'Robert Glasgow, George Garnock, Niel M'Kinnon and Donald M'Donald' (clip OCR), and the magistrates' list of banished persons of 28 Nov 1772 names, among others, 'Neil Mackinnon, son of Normand Mackinnon chairbearer', 'George Garnoch, son of John Garnoch serjeant in the 44th regiment' and 'Robert Glasgow, son of Andrew Glasgow miller at Calder' (clip OCR). Three of the four 1767 co-convicts reappear together as banished persons, so the 1767 prisoner is (probably) Robert son of Andrew Glasgow, miller at Calder. WikiTree: Glasgow-1445 (bapt. Kirknewton & East Calder by 13 Feb 1735) is christened to a father James per its cited baptism - conflicts with father Andrew (unlikely). Glasgow-2473 (bapt. Edinburgh 7 Jan 1703) is son of James Glasgow, shoemaker - conflicts (unlikely). Glasgow-1229 (Livingston, son of Abraham) - conflicts. No WikiTree Robert is a son of an Andrew. New profile draft warranted (Robert, son of Andrew Glasgow, miller at Calder; convicted of theft and banished from Edinburgh 1767).
- [The Caledonian Mercury, 1767-12-21, p.3](https://www.newspapers.com/image/395727807/): Dec 1767: Robert Glasgow, with George Garnock, Niel M'Kinnon and Donald M'Donald, sentenced in Edinburgh for theft to be walked through the city and banished. The 1772 banished-persons list repeats Garnoch and Mackinnon beside 'Robert Glasgow, son of Andrew Glasgow miller at Calder', so this is that man; he has no WikiTree profile. - [Newspapers.com original image 395727807](https://www.newspapers.com/image/395727807/) - [Newspapers.com original image 395731868](https://www.newspapers.com/image/395731868/)
