Reading the evidence: an index, transcript, provider search page and original image are different sources. A recorded image link does not mean its reading or identity match is confirmed. How to read these notices
Cards lead with the person named in the notice; profile candidates are assessed separately. Birth cutoffs labelled “by c.” are estimates, usually assuming an adult professional was at least 18; open the birth note for the basis. Event groups are broad navigation aids built from each notice’s record type. A relationship filter identifies family wording in the notice, not a proved match to a WikiTree family.

What the notice says
Hugh Allan v. Trustees of Robert Glasgow: the report calls Mrs Robertson Glasgow the late Robert’s natural daughter and first heir under his 1818 entail. It reports his death in 1827 and a supplementary entail and trust dated 23 June 1821, involving Seafield near Ayr.
Evidence and identity limits
Contemporary account of the 25 August hearing, independently supporting Anne’s daughter/heir description and the 1827 death year. It does not verify 19 April. Hugh Allan-8034, the profile-defined nephew, is a compatible appellant candidate; older Allan-8028 has no death recorded but would be 109. Neither identity is proved. These later deeds are distinct from the uninspected 1803 trust. Identity review (6 October 2026): Aug 1835 report of the Lords appeal Hugh Allan v. Trustees of Robert Glasgow. The late Robert is Glasgow of Montgreenan (1076, strong) and 'Mrs Robertson Glasgow', his natural daughter and heir, is Anne (2874, strong), so Anne's father link can be made confident. Hugh Allan is probably the nephew Allan-8034 (heir-at-law).

The Shaw & Maclean digest shows Allan v. Glasgow's Trustees (1 Sept 1835) was brought by 'the heir at law' against the trustees. The 1846 report names 'Hugh Allan and John Smith' as claimant heirs-at-law of Robert Glasgow of Mountgreenan. Paterson, Ayr II, lists Robert's sisters 'Ann, married to Hugh Allan, in Kilwinning, 23d December 1757' and 'Margaret ... married to Andrew Smith of Todholes ... 1764', which explains why the heirs-at-law are an Allan and a Smith (sons of sisters, as heirs-portioners). Allan-8034, Hugh b. 15 Jan 1768 Kilwinning, is on WikiTree as a son of Hugh Allan (Allan-80

Record-level bridge. The report's late Robert Glasgow died in 1827, made an 1818 entail and supplementary deeds dated 23 June 1821, and held Seafield near Ayr. The 1846 House of Lords report (David Allan and John Smith v. Anne Robertson Glasgow) concerns 'Robert Glasgow, of Mountgreenan, deceased', with the same 1818 entail, the 23 June 1821 deeds, a death in 1827 and 'a villa and lands adjoining, called Seafield', and recites the 1 Sept 1835 reversal. LBS claim 466 names trustees 'under deeds of release dated 22 and 23 June 1821' acting with Robert Glasgow (late Robertson) and Anne his wife.
[b. 1788-03-11; d. 1867-07-29] · natural daughter and first heir of entail of Robert GlasgowWhy this candidate?
The report calls Mrs Robertson Glasgow the late Robert's natural daughter and first heir under the 1818 entail. The 1846 report quotes Robert's 1802 deed: 'Miss Anne Glasgow, my reputed natural daughter by Mrs. Anne Swan', later the wife of Mr Robertson Glasgow, with the estate settled on her and her issue. LBS (claim 466 and person 27300) has Robert Robertson, later Glasgow, marrying Anne Glasgow on 2 Aug 1804, both claiming Mt Greenan. Paterson says the estate was left to a daughter 'married to Mr Robertson of Prenderguest' and that 'Mrs Robertson Glasgow, now proprietor ... resides at Pau'.

What the notice says
House of Lords appeals: the report reproduces clauses of Glasgow’s settlement and says Lord Brougham recommended reversing the judgment below; judgment reversed accordingly. The heading appears to read Henry Allen v. Trustees of R. Glasgow.
Evidence and identity limits
Reports the Wednesday judgment, 2 September 1835. The estate, Seafield dispute and counsel identify the same litigation as the 26 August report, whose appellant is Hugh Allan. Preserve the discrepant heading; compare the original court papers before resolving the name. Reported deed extracts are not an inspection of the original deed. Identity review (6 October 2026): Sept 1835 Morning Chronicle report of the House of Lords reversing the judgment in favour of the appellant against 'R. Glasgow's' trustees. R. Glasgow is Robert of Montgreenan (1076, strong). The heading's 'Henry Allen' is the same appellant as Hugh Allan.

Same as group 396909317. The settlement of Robert Glasgow of Montgreenan (d.1827), with its 1818 entail, 23 June 1821 deeds and Seafield, is identified by the 1846 House of Lords report, the Shaw & Maclean digest and LBS claim 466.
· appellant, heir-at-law of Robert Glasgow of MontgreenanWhy this candidate?
Same appellant as group 396909317 (Hugh Allan, heir-at-law). 'Henry Allen' is a heading misprint: the estate, the Seafield dispute, the counsel and the 1 Sept 1835 reversal are identical. Grading and reasoning are as in that group.
