Reported events, notices, advertisements and letters. OCR matches need visual checking; place names, vessels and matches to other surnames are excluded from Glasgow surname evidence.
Availability depends on the particular repository, locality, date range and record series. We have not established complete coverage for this collection. Follow each provider link for its holdings and access terms; a missing result is not proof of absence.
Reading the evidence: an index, transcript, provider search page and original image are different sources. A recorded image link does not mean its reading or identity match is confirmed. Inspect the assessment and source page before changing a family relationship. Repository guides checked 4 October 2026.

How to read these notices
Cards lead with the person named in the notice; profile candidates are assessed separately. Birth cutoffs labelled “by c.” are estimates, usually assuming an adult professional was at least 18; open the birth note for the basis. Event groups are broad navigation aids built from each notice’s record type. A relationship filter identifies family wording in the notice, not a proved match to a WikiTree family.

What the notice says
An 1845 tenant-right discussion quotes Samuel Glasgow, described as an intelligent farmer examined at Moneymore, advocating secure tenure and protection against rent charged on improvements. He described seeing reclamation on Sir Thomas Staples’s land in his neighbourhood.
Evidence and identity limits
Moneymore is where he was examined, not an explicit home townland. The date of his examination, age and relatives are unstated. Cookstown farmers Samuel-2054 and Samuel-1698 are compatible; Lisnagaver Samuel-2908 is a weaker regional comparison, without a locality or occupation bridge. No connection to Lisnagaver is established. Identity review (6 October 2026): Freeman's Journal, 19 Mar 1845 (images 1050103241 and 1380777866): Samuel Glasgow, a farmer examined at Moneymore by the Devon Commission, describes reclamation on Sir Thomas Staples's land in his neighbourhood. Glasgow-2054 is a possible candidate, with Glasgow-1698 equally compatible.
[b. c. 1792; d. 1865-06-22] · farmer examined at MoneymoreWhy this candidate?
The Staples estate centred on Lissan, between Cookstown and Moneymore. Glasgow-2054 (c.1792-1865, Gortin, Derryloran) was a Cookstown farmer whose son John-2537 died at Cluntyganny, Lissan, which slightly favours him. Glasgow-1698 (c.1800-1857, Killycurragh) is equally compatible. Glasgow-2908 (Lisnagaver, Rasharkin, Co. Antrim) lives far from Moneymore, so he is weaker, but no concrete conflict excludes him. The Devon Commission's witness heading, which usually gives residence and holding, was not retrieved.
