Reported events, notices, advertisements and letters. OCR matches need visual checking; place names, vessels and matches to other surnames are excluded from Glasgow surname evidence.
Availability depends on the particular repository, locality, date range and record series. We have not established complete coverage for this collection. Follow each provider link for its holdings and access terms; a missing result is not proof of absence.
Reading the evidence: an index, transcript, provider search page and original image are different sources. A recorded image link does not mean its reading or identity match is confirmed. Inspect the assessment and source page before changing a family relationship. Repository guides checked 4 October 2026.

How to read these notices
Cards lead with the person named in the notice; profile candidates are assessed separately. Birth cutoffs labelled “by c.” are estimates, usually assuming an adult professional was at least 18; open the birth note for the basis. Event groups are broad navigation aids built from each notice’s record type. A relationship filter identifies family wording in the notice, not a proved match to a WikiTree family.

What the notice says
Samuel Glasgow is an adjoining landowner in a Whitpain Township execution-sale notice for about fifty acres, late Isaac Williams’s estate, bounded by John Saunders, Samuel Glasgow, John Eldridge and Thomas Blackledge.
Evidence and identity limits
A boundary name, not the deceased estate owner, buyer or executor. February and August notices concern the same described estate; their planned sale dates differ, preserved in each issue assessment. Planned sale: 17 February 1770, at Abraham Wentz’s house. No completed sale is established. Identity review (6 October 2026): Samuel Glasgow is a boundary landowner in a February 1770 Whitpain Township execution-sale notice (late Isaac Williams's estate). A 1769 Philadelphia County proprietary tax list (transcription) independently places a Samuel Glascow in Whitpain, confirming a resident there; no WikiTree Samuel has any eastern-Pennsylvania record, so the best fit, Glasgow-3175, stays only possible.

Independent corroboration of residence: 1769 Philadelphia County proprietary tax list, Whitpain Township, 'Samuel Glascow' (Friends Journal Gwynedd-area transcription; John Sanders of the same notice also listed in Whitpain). WikiTree candidates: Glasgow-3175 (b. c.1740 Ulster, d. 1801 Hanover Twp, Washington Co., PA; wife Mary Stephenson) is a Pennsylvania settler of the right age, with no record placing him in Whitpain - possible only (his biography's Old Bailey 1761 'Samuel Glascow' identification is itself unproved). Glasgow-1134 (Cecil County-born c.1749-1754; probably the First Maryland sergeant of 1776-77, see group 41048937) is weak. Glasgow-1492 (Moneymore, b. c.1726; possibly the 1

What the notice says
Samuel Glasgow is a boundary landowner for thirty acres, part of a fifty-acre Whitpain Township tract, late Isaac Williams’s estate, also bounded by John Saunders and John Eldridge. A sale is advertised for 9 August at William Lawrence’s house in Plymouth Township.
Evidence and identity limits
Three issue appearances of one notice. The separate Limerick property’s 7 August sale does not apply here. No completed sale, occupation or kinship is established. Identity review (6 October 2026): Same Whitpain Township estate re-advertised July 1770: Samuel Glasgow is a boundary landowner of the 30-acre part. Same conclusion as group 39398014: a real Whitpain resident (1769 tax list), no profile beyond possible (Glasgow-3175).
[b. c. 1740; d. c. 1801] · boundary landowner, Whitpain TownshipWhy this candidate?
Same man as the February 1770 notice (same estate, same neighbours John Saunders and John Eldridge). 1769 Philadelphia County tax list has Samuel Glascow in Whitpain. No WikiTree profile documents him; Glasgow-3175 is a compatible Pennsylvania namesake only; 1134 and 1492 weaker (see group 39398014).
