Ann Kerr

[Ann Eadie (Eadie-646)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Eadie-646) has no attached
parents. The evidence strongly identifies her parents as **John Eadie** and
**Helen Crawford**, but new WikiTree profiles should remain **HOLD** until two
plausible existing-profile candidates are resolved.

The live profile now records Ann's exact birth on **5 December 1794**, retains
her 7 December baptism, cites the stable FamilySearch baptism, and records the
FamilySearch parent PIDs with duplicate cautions. No structural parent links
were added: [John Adie (Adie-192)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Adie-192) and
[Helen Crawford (Crawford-30067)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Crawford-30067)
remain unresolved candidates.

The parent relationship itself is well supported by three mutually consistent
records:

1. Ann's indexed Dunblane baptism names her father as John Eadie.
2. John Eadie married Helen Crawford at Dunblane in 1787, seven years before
   Ann's birth.
3. Ann's 1866 statutory death registration names both parents, John Eadie and
   Helen Crawford.

This is enough to treat the names as Ann's record-supported parents. It is not
enough to accept the unsupported FamilySearch birth estimates for the parents
or to bypass the WikiTree duplicate candidates.

The occupation difference—John as a stocking maker in Ann's baptism narrative
and as a ploughman in Ann's death registration—does not by itself identify two
men. Occupations could change over seventy years, and a child's death informant
may have known only a general occupation. The original baptism and death images
should nevertheless be compared before writing John's biography.

Searches covered `Eadie`, `Edie` and `Adie`, about 1758, Dunblane and wider
Scotland.

- [John Eadie (Eadie-583)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Eadie-583), born 7
  December 1766 at Falkirk and died 7 February 1839 at Dysart, is a different
  indexed identity. His profile has no spouse or children but the exact
  Falkirk birth and Fife death do not match FamilySearch's unsupported 1758
  Dunblane reconstruction.
- [John Edie (Edie-396)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Edie-396), born before
  14 January 1768 at Logie, Fife, and died in 1800, is geographically distinct
  and has a separate documented identity.
- [John Adie (Adie-192)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Adie-192), born 24
  October 1765 at Muthill, Perthshire, is a **plausible candidate**, not a
  rejected duplicate. He would have been 21 at the 1787 marriage, Muthill is
  within the regional Perthshire network, and his profile has no spouse,
  children or death. Its baptism names Andrew Adie and Elizabeth Cairns
  ([FamilySearch VQWQ-W76](https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VQWQ-W76)).
  No record yet connects or excludes him from the Dunblane marriage.

No existing WikiTree profile was found for a John Eadie born 1758 at Dunblane
and married to Helen Crawford. `Adie-192` must be resolved before creating a
new John.

### Helen Crawford

Searches covered Helen, Ellen and Hellen Crawford, about 1763, Dunblane and
wider Scotland.

- [Helen Crawford (Crawford-30067)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Crawford-30067),
  born about June 1769 and baptised 8 July 1769 at Maybole, Ayrshire, daughter
  of Archibald Crawford and Helen Nievine, is a **weak but unresolved
  candidate**. She would have been about 17 or 18 at the Dunblane marriage and
  her profile has no spouse, children or death. The Maybole-to-Dunblane move is
  unsupported but not impossible.
- Helen Beveradge Crawford, Helen Cherry Crawford and Helen Armstrong Crawford
  are women whose birth surnames were not Crawford and are not candidates for
  Ann's mother.

No exact WikiTree profile was found for Helen Crawford, wife of John Eadie at
Dunblane. `Crawford-30067` should be compared against the marriage and later
family records before creating a new Helen.

**HOLD profile creation and linking for now.** The names John Eadie and Helen
Crawford can safely be reported as Ann's parents, but it is not yet safe to
create new WikiTree profiles because `Adie-192` and `Crawford-30067` remain
possible matches.

The evidence update to `Eadie-646` is complete; this HOLD applies only to
creating or attaching structural parent profiles.

Resolve the hold by:

1. inspecting NRS marriage image `348/30/371` for residence, status,
   occupation, witnesses or other distinguishing wording;
2. reopening death image `490/145` to capture the informant, exact occupations
   and deceased status;
3. inspecting the original Dunblane baptisms for Ann and the couple's other
   record-supported children for repeated occupation/residence details; and
4. testing those details against `Adie-192` and `Crawford-30067`.

If both candidates are excluded, create separate minimally stated profiles:
John Eadie, stocking maker/ploughman, married 3 June 1787 at Dunblane; and
Helen Crawford, married there on the same date. Leave their births, deaths and
parents uncertain unless separately proved, then attach both to `Eadie-646`
with the baptism, marriage and statutory-death citations.

This parent set is counted in the completed fan-root register because the
relationship is directly supported, but the unresolved duplicate candidates
still prevent safe profile creation or live attachment.
