This profile represents Thomas Glasco, father with Catherine of Sarah Glasco,
baptised at St Michan Roman Catholic Church, Dublin, on 10 August 1760. That
record supports Thomas, Catherine and Sarah as a nuclear family but gives no
surname for Catherine, trade or address, and does not identify Thomas with the
1779–1783 watchmaker. It therefore does not prove that Catherine was
[[Mangan-824|Catherine Mangan]].

The attached son [[Glasco-144]] is not established by the 1760 baptism. No
cited record connects Sarah's father to the man who married Margaret Duffy in
1773, and chronology alone cannot supply that parent-child relationship.

The address supports the existing 1779–1783 Thomas trade cluster, but the newspaper gives no first name, spouse, parents or children and does not assign the event to this profile. The [Aurora, 9 April 1799, p.3](https://www.newspapers.com/image/586542475/) and [11 April, p.1](https://www.newspapers.com/image/586542512/) print one STOP THIEF notice signed Thomas Glascoe: $115 reportedly stolen from his Tinicum Island house on 31 March. The reward is twenty dollars for recovery of the money, or fifteen for the thief alone.

Two other records point to Thomas Glasco as the advertiser: a July 1779 marriage of '[Thomas] Glasco of Christchurch-lane, watchmaker' to Miss Hynes of Ormond-quay (Saunders's News-Letter extraction; forename supplied by the extractor), and Watson's 1783 directory entry 'Glasco, Thomas, Watch maker, 20 Ormond quay'. Which WikiTree Thomas he is remains unproved.

- **New (context):** St Michan's Roman Catholic register also has **Elizabeth**, baptised 12 February 1744, parents **James Glasco and Catherine** (`IRE/PRS/BAP/3193307`), showing an earlier Glasco household in the same parish as Sarah's 1760 baptism. No link to Thomas is stated.
- **New, weakens the attached son:** *Hibernian Journal*, 11 January 1773, p.2 (BNA `BL/0000817/17730111/005`), repeated in the same paper on 8, 10 and 22 February, 3, 5 and 22 March and 7 and 9 April 1773, and in *Saunders's News-Letter*, 12 March 1773, p.3 (`BL/0001057/17730312/016`). Full-page OCR of the 5 March issue (`BL/0000817/17730305/010`) reads, with long-s normalised: "THOMAS GLASCO, who served Apprenticeship to his Father, Philip Glasco, late [of] Christ-Church-lane, Watch-maker, and since had several Years Practice in London, takes this Method of informing his Friends and the Public, that he carries on the usual [business] at his said Father's House". The watchmaker Thomas named his father as Philip Glasco. If [[Glasco-144]] is the watchmaker, this profile cannot be his father. If he is not, the edge is still unsourced.
- **Candidate, unproved:** Dublin diocesan wills and grants index, **Catherine Glasco**, 1760 (`IRE/IET0090/0424/212`). This could be this Thomas's wife or the elder Philip's wife (died early 1760); the index gives no residence or husband.
- **Searches that found nothing:** no Thomas-and-Catherine Glasco baptism other than Sarah's was found in the Findmypast Irish Catholic parish index for Dublin 1720–1820.
