A modern reconstruction identifies Robert (born 1809), William (born 1811), Eliza (born 1814), and John (born 1814) within the same County Tyrone-to-Cayuga migration network and treats Robert and Eliza as probable siblings. The nineteenth-century Hillsdale biographies independently prove William and John were brothers and state that Eliza came to Auburn with two brothers, but do not name those brothers. The overlap is significant but not proof.

The unidentified brother Samuel named in Robert's biography must also be reconciled before attaching parents or siblings. He may be one of Eliza's two emigrating brothers, another sibling, or a biographical error.
