The 1888 Hillsdale biography, p. 395 identifies William's seven-sibling family, Eliza's Glasgow birth surname, the marriage, migration, and their four children. It explicitly describes William's and Eliza's families as distinct despite the shared surname.

William was born 11 February 1811 in County Tyrone, a son of [John (Glasgow-1968)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Glasgow-1968) and [Jane (Unknown-764117)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Unknown-764117). He married [Eliza Glasgow (Glasgow-4025)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Glasgow-4025) at Auburn on 4 August 1836 and moved to Fayette Township, Hillsdale County, in 1842.
