The uncommon Michael Glasgow named as an Irvine skinner in 1679 is treated as the later Irvine saddler documented from 1699, with civic records in 1686 and 1702. The same town and related leather trades support the identification; no single record links the 1679 man to his later family. Both the summons and burgh, marriage and child sources remain in the surviving biography.

The Irvine burgh catalogue lists two roups (auction lettings) to Michael Glasgow, saddler of Irvine, among the Town Treasurer's articles of roup: on 1 March 1699, the grass of the Green and the lime holes or pits for 1699–1700 at £36 Scots (IB2/14/19); and on 5 April 1701, the grass of the Green and the lime or "tann" pits for 1701–1702 at £43 Scots (IB2/14/22). Ayrshire Archives, Irvine Burgh Catalogue (2017), p. 142; the entries were read in the recovered local copy sources/irvine_burgh_catalogue_2017_wayback_recovered.pdf on 7 October 2026.

These are the records behind the statement that Michael was a saddler from 1699. Seen as catalogue descriptions; the original roup papers have not been inspected. They name no relatives. The tanning pits fit a leather trade, which is consistent with the 1679 Irvine skinner merged into this profile, but they do not prove that identity.
