Identity assessment — later life as a Belfast teacher, recorded 16 July 2026
- The 1901 Inishrush census lists Henry, 12, born in America, son of Adam and Eliza (
../Glasgow-3905/sources/census_1901_glasgow_derry.json). - A nationwide 1911 census search for Henry Glasgow returned three results; only one fits the age, American birth and occupation: Henry Glasgow, 22, Church of Ireland, single, national-school teacher, boarding at 44 York Road, Belfast (Form A saved as
../Glasgow-3905/sources/census_1911_henry_glasgow_form_a.pdf, seen as the original form). The form gives no middle name or parent. The other two were older Irish-born farmers or labourers. - Belfast street directories for 1932, 1939, 1943, 1947 and 1951 list "Glasgow, H. D., teacher" at 62 Deerpark Road. The PRONI will calendar records Henry Downing Glasgow of 62 Deerpark Road, retired teacher, who died on 20 June 1959.
The source grades the identification of the 1911 teacher with this Henry as high-confidence (probable), on age, American birth and occupation. The link from the 1911 teacher to H. D. Glasgow of Deerpark Road is inference from name and occupation; the 1911 and 1932 addresses differ. A Tamlaght vestry account of 2 August 1893 lists "Henry Adam Glasgow" in Sunday-school class 5, probably this child, but the middle name conflicts with Downing and the two must not be harmonised. No child of Henry has been identified.
