George's existing Jean Gardiner marriage matches the 8 November 1678 Kilwinning index. The additional 5 August 1680 entry names Isobell Young, which must not silently be substituted for the Jonet Young appearing in the family's baptism problem. It supplies a new comparison, not proof of a second wife or of identity between the Young and Gardiner women. The originals must establish whether the same George appears in both entries.
