About John

John Glasgow of Larne (Glasgow-4179) is now attached to Hugh Glasgow (Glasgow-1499) as an uncertain son, with low confidence. This is a working hypothesis based on locality and generation, not a record naming his father. Older William (Glasgow-1505) remains viable. No mother is attached; Hugh's wife Ann is not thereby identified as John's mother.

Current family assessment

The duplicate marriage has been resolved: Rose Allan (Allan-6611) is the wife of the Larne John, married in 1769 according to the archived Kilwaughter/Larne chronology. Allan-8249 now redirects to Allan-6611, the older ID required by WikiTree. Both Rose profiles cited the same marriage; neither supplied an independent Rose baptism. Her estimated birth about 1750 and inferred County Antrim birthplace remain uncertain. The chronology's 1745–48 birth estimate concerns John, not Rose.

John Glasgow of West Calder (Glasgow-2846), son of John Glasgow (Glasgow-2847) and Margaret Anderson, remains a separate identity. Rose has been detached from him. The 1747 Scottish baptism citation has not been re-inspected beyond the existing citation because FamilySearch requires sign-in. No inspected evidence joins that Scottish child to the Larne groom; this separation does not prove that they could never be the same man.

The original PRONI MIC/1B/6 marriage and baptism entries and the named lives in the 1751/1767 endorsements to lease D2977/3A/4/81/72A remain the tests for Hugh versus William. The Larne memorial, pp.47–48, does not name John and is not proved to enumerate every surviving child.
