Unresolved — baptism year 1730 or 1731, 6 September 2026

Findmypast's transcript of John's baptism (SCOT/OPR/BAP/3586582; OPR 596/1, Kilbirnie, page 79) gives 29 March 1731, son of Robert Glasgow, surgeon, and Margaret Allan, at Puddockholm. The profile gives 29 March 1730. The only citation for 1730 found in this repository is the FamilySearch index Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564–1950 (XY24-V6J, "John Glasgow, 1730"), as captured from the WikiTree biography. Both dates are therefore index readings.

The Findmypast audit of 6 September 2026 first held the row: same parents, parish and day a year apart, which "may be a year error or a reused child name". A later override assigned the row to this profile, treating 1730 as "the sourced 1730 original-register date" and ruling that it must not create a second John. No original-register citation or reading for 1730 is recorded in the repository, so the year is not settled and both dates are kept here as a conflict. Scotland began the year on 1 January from 1600, so the difference is not an Old Style/New Style effect.

The profile gives **29 March 1730**. The only citation for 1730 found in this repository is the FamilySearch index *Scotland Births and Baptisms, 1564–1950* ([XY24-V6J](https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XY24-V6J), "John Glasgow, 1730"), as captured from the WikiTree biography. Both dates are therefore index readings.
