Robert Glasgow at Paddockholm wrote to his brother James Glasgow, a student of
divinity at Glasgow, and sent butter and cheese for Mr Gordon. Robert-1075 was
baptised at Kilbirnie in 1693 and is the established Paddockholm man; his
brother Glasgow-1140 was baptised
there in 1700 and fits the divinity student. The letter therefore strongly
confirms the existing sibling relationship and supplies direct adult residence
for Robert and status for James.

Source findings — Paterson's account of the family, 1726–1764
James Paterson, History of the County of Ayr, vol. II (1852), "Glasgow of Mountgreenan" (archive.org text; cited in research/Glasgow-1076/findings.md as pp.252–253), says that Robert Glasgow, baptised 17 October 1693, son of Rev. John Glasgow, minister of Kilbirnie, was chamberlain to the Viscount of Garnock and surgeon at Kilbirnie, was styled of Puddockholm ("sometimes called the Waters"), and married Margaret Allan of Ladesyde on 10 December 1726. They had nine children, "among whom were": Jean, married James White of Woodsyde, Kilwinning parish (the OCR gives 1 October 1750 with a birth year of 1757, so one figure is wrong); Ann, married Hugh Allan in Kilwinning, 23 December 1757; Janet, born 1736, married William Cochran, younger of Ladyland, 2 September 1756, with issue; Margaret, married Andrew Smith of Todholes, Dalry parish, 20 March 1764; Robert of Mountgreenan; and James, who went to St Vincent and died unmarried in Calder parish, near Edinburgh.

The numbered children appear in a separate part of the notes and are attributed to Paterson by their content. Paterson is a nineteenth-century secondary account, not record evidence: check the marriages in the Kilbirnie, Kilwinning and Dalry registers before any relationship status changes. His statement that Robert of Mountgreenan left no issue conflicts with the trust evidence in Glasgow-1076's findings. The Puddockholm (Paddockholm) designation agrees with the 1722 letter RH15/120/178 above.
