Overall conclusion

The image says neither County Londonderry nor Inishrush, so the exact birthplace must remain uncertain. The derivative descendant page and Find a Grave memorial claim death in 1862, but an original 1870 census image records Adam Glasgow in Brown County, Illinois, with Mary J., Martha A. and Amos Glasgow. He was therefore alive in 1870 and the memorial's 1862 transcription cannot be a reliable death date.

John Glasgow's original letter of 20 March 1847 says that he had received a letter from “Adam” dated 27 December 1846. In the immediate family context this is consistent with his son Adam, while the older Adam of Inishrush died in 1844. Treat this as indirect evidence that this Adam was alive in December 1846, not as proof of a death date or residence.

Follow-up search (2026-08-30)

The Mount Sterling newspaper archive produced one exact-name result. Its 1879 retrospective says Adam's wife left for California about 1874. This is a useful migration lead, but it does not establish Adam's death date. The photographed stone clearly reads his name and 7 July 1804 birth date; its damaged death line cannot be transcribed confidently from the available photograph. Brown County's surviving civil death series begins only in 1877, so the cemetery register, sexton records or a better-lighted stone image remain the best next evidence. The Brown County Permanent Resident Index narrows that search to page 217 of the Mount Sterling City Cemetery survey, where Adam Glasgow and Adam A. Glasgow have separate entries. A volunteer lookup should request both entries together so that the older Adam is not confused with his son, who died in 1866.

records Adam Glasgow as born on **7 July 1804** within John Glasgow and Mary
Arthur's family register. This replaces the live profile's sole citation,
`Unsourced family tree handed down to M Glasgow`, with record evidence for the
date and parent-family context.

The image says neither County Londonderry nor Inishrush, so the exact birthplace
must remain uncertain. The derivative descendant page and Find a Grave memorial
claim death in 1862, but an original 1870 census image records Adam Glasgow in
Brown County, Illinois, with Mary J., Martha A. and Amos Glasgow. He was
therefore alive in 1870 and the memorial's 1862 transcription cannot be a
reliable death date.
