Coverage, survival & limitations

Availability depends on the particular repository, locality, date range and record series. We have not established complete coverage for this collection. Follow each provider link for its holdings and access terms; a missing result is not proof of absence.

Reading the evidence: an index, transcript, provider search page and original image are different sources. A recorded image link does not mean its reading or identity match is confirmed. Inspect the assessment and source page before changing a family relationship. Repository guides checked 4 October 2026.

How to read these notices

Cards lead with the person named in the notice; profile candidates are assessed separately. Birth cutoffs labelled “by c.” are estimates, usually assuming an adult professional was at least 18; open the birth note for the basis. Event groups are broad navigation aids built from each notice’s record type. A relationship filter identifies family wording in the notice, not a proved match to a WikiTree family.

What the notice says

Marriage notice reports that on 25th ult at Paisley George Sherbrooke Airey, Esq., Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, son of the late Lieutenant-General Sir George Airey, married Anne, second daughter of the late Robert Glasgow, Esq.; at the same time Rev George Drake, son of Rev John Drake, rector of Stourton, married Charlotte Maria Cecilia, youngest daughter of the late Robert Glasgow, Esq., of Montgreenan, county Ayr. Original passage visually checked. 25 August 1847 is inferred from ‘25th ult’ and the 2 September issue date.

Evidence and identity limits

The notice directly reports the two marriages and names the two brides as daughters of the same late Robert Glasgow; it explicitly places the latter Robert at Montgreenan, Ayr. Robertson-30564 is a probable candidate for this Robert because his local profile account says he inherited Montgreenan, took the Glasgow surname in 1828, and died in 1845; do not conflate him with Glasgow-1076 (1747–1827). Anne Glasgow-3000 is a possible daughter match; Charlotte Glasgow-3003 is a strong compatible match by her distinctive names and existing Drake profile link; Rev George Drake-13873 is a probable match. No compatible George Sherbrooke Airey profile was found in the bounded approved local lookup. Record-level father and marriage claims are separate from assigning the record people to profiles; profile-level relationship transitions remain pending, with prior local status unknown/tree-only. The notice names no mothers and says nothing about Irish origin. Identity review (6 October 2026): Freeman's Journal, 2 Sep 1847: a double wedding at Paisley on 25 Aug 1847. Lt George Sherbrooke Airey RN married Anne, second daughter, and Rev George Drake married Charlotte Maria Cecilia, youngest daughter, of the late Robert Glasgow Esq. of Montgreenan. The father is Robertson-30564 (strong): he died in 1845, his son lived to 1860, and Dr Robert Glasgow (d. 1827) had no issue. Charlotte-3003 is strong, Anne-3000 and Drake-13873 probable. Airey has no profile. No compatible WikiTree profile after a duplicate search for: George Sherbrooke Airey, Esq., Lieutenant R.N..

Who this may be

[b. 1775-11-06; d. 1845-01-27] · father of both brides
Why this candidate?

Unique designation 'of Montgreenan', described as 'the late' in Sept 1847. Of the Montgreenan owners: Dr Robert Glasgow-1076 died in 1827 with no offspring (Wikipedia), so he is excluded. Robert Robertson of Prenderguest, son-in-law, inherited in 1828 and took the name Glasgow; the LBS claim names 'Robert Glasgow Esq. (late Robertson) and Anne his wife'. His son Robert Robertson-Glasgow inherited in 1845 and lived to 1860 (thepeerage), so he cannot be 'the late' in 1847. Only Robertson-30564 survives.

[b. 1827-11-22; d. c. 1875] · bride (youngest daughter)
Why this candidate?

Distinctive forenames, the Drake married name, an existing spouse link to Rev George Drake, and a WikiTree father of Robertson-30564.

[b. c. 1805; d. ?] · bride (second daughter)
Why this candidate?

The only Anne among Robertson-30564's daughters on WikiTree (her sisters are Jane, Mary and Charlotte). A birth of c.1805 fits a second daughter of a marriage made before 1821. She has no spouse on the profile, and the notice gives no age.

[b. c. 1825; d. ?] · groom
Why this candidate?

Rev George Drake (b. c.1825, Rome), already linked as Charlotte-3003's husband. The notice adds his father. Not rechecked live.

What the notice says

Position 2 (other): Marriage notice: “On the 19th Jan., in the Presbyterian Church of Rasharkin, by the Rev. W. Wallace, Samuel Wallace to Mary Ann Wallace, both of Culmore.” This visible passage is a marriage notice naming Rasharkin as the church location. Glasgow is not visible in this clipped second match, so this excerpt does not classify or connect the Glasgow hit.

Evidence and identity limits

Original-position final review: the quoted Glasgow/Rasharkin passage(s) on this page are classified as place, vessel, or other context, not a Glasgow personal surname. This is a passage-level result, not a claim that the entire page contains no relevant name.

Who this may be

No profile assigned; identity remains unresolved.

Place, vessel or other-surname OCR match; excluded from surname evidence.
