Marion married William Calder at Edinburgh on 29 June 1686. On 30 June 1686, the day after their marriage, William was admitted as a burgess of Edinburgh. The entry describes him as a weaver and states that his admission was by right of his wife Marion, daughter of James Glasgow, weaver and burgess. Charles B. William Calder's burgess admission independently identifies Marion as a daughter of James Glasgow, weaver and burgess of Edinburgh. 

The father named in these records was the Edinburgh weaver apprenticed in 1641 and admitted as a burgess in 1649. He was distinct from the James Glasgow baptised at Inveresk in 1626 as a son of Alexander Glasgow.

The baptismal index records her name as “Marione Glesgow.” The later marriage and burgess records use the form Marion Glasgow.

The baptism dated 29 January 1657 is Marion's record. It is not evidence for a son named James Glasgow born on that date.
