Robert-4150 and Samuel-4010 are proved brothers of Daniel-3896 and Thomas-987. Their current public WikiTree biographies already contain the sibling will/deed evidence. Thomas and Daniel share the existing father attachment Alexander-3904. The descendant account naming Alexander as Thomas’s father, combined with proved brotherhood and compatible chronology, supports extending that same attachment to Robert and Samuel with uncertain status. The original deeds do not name a parent; this is an inherited family hypothesis, not a newly certain father. Assess Rosanna’s maternity separately.

Property and estate distinctions reviewed 13 September 2026
The 1843 purchase from Ebenezer Bacon for £75 was already recorded in the July source audit. The useful additional locator in the Town of Prescott register is 251 Water Street West, Plan 19, Block 2, part Lot 16, designation by-law 1985-54. This is the Glasgow/Smyth Building; it is separate from Robert's Centre Street house and its six-share estate. No original conveyance has been inspected, and Samuel may have disposed of the Water Street interest before his death.
The more direct family-identification target is Samuel's reported purchase of the other interests in Robert's Centre Street property, following the already inspected 1849 will registered in 1856 (film 008200419, image 35). A 2017 property account reports that transaction while misdescribing the kinship. Conveyances, releases or powers of attorney could identify James's children or their representatives; this is a retrieval inference, not a located instrument. Both the 2017 account and the inspected municipal report identify 388 Centre Street; 280 was a project citation error. Original deeds and OnLand abstract pp.71–72 now identify Lot 12 and the 3,400-square-foot part of Lot 11 south of Dibble Street.
The LAC Samuel Glasgow fonds, item 98738, R6229-0-0-E / MG24-I39, belongs to a Niagara farmer who died about 1830 and is excluded as this merchant's personal archive.
The census has eight household members, six of them probable children, not eight children. Adding the two later sons reported by local history accounts for eight possible children; it does not independently reconcile the reported total of ten. Two remain unaccounted for by that particular evidence combination.

Eliza Jane and Mary of Rochester are the carpenter’s eldest and second eldest daughters; their ninth shares do not fit a simple division of Robert’s sixth for James’s children. The carpenter’s identity with Robert’s brother remains a property-based hypothesis.
The original C298 deed, 15 September 1869, registered 1 July 1870, identifies Mary Black, formerly Mary Glasgow, as Robert’s sister, and names children John Black (wife Martha) and Rose Ann Black at Drumoolish, Jane Miller (wife of Robert Miller), Agnes and deceased Elizabeth Black at Newburgh, and Thomasina Montgomery (wife of Mathew) at Legrand, Iowa. This establishes the Black collateral branch; it does not name the siblings’ parents. The original C114 identifies James’s son Alexander as a Rochester express agent, whose identity with Alexander-951 remains unproved.

Source findings — Orena in the 1861 Prescott grammar-school list
A transcription of the 1861 Prescott grammar-school list includes Orena Glasgow, associated with Samuel Glasgow, storekeeper (“Black Walnuts, Squirrels and Prescott High School”, The Past Around Us, accessed 13 August 2026). Blog transcription, not the original list. Orena's rare name and age agree with the child of that name in Samuel's 1851 household, so it supports Orena (Glasgow-4019) as his daughter; it does not prove it.

The original 30 July 1861 deed, B465 now identifies Daniel of Kilrea, watchmaker, and Thomas of Lisnagaver, farmer, with wives Margaret and Mary Anne, as the men selling interests under Robert’s will. Their identity with Daniel-3896 and Thomas-987 is established by the combined places, occupations, wives and earlier brotherhood evidence. The siblings’ parents remain unnamed. Robert, Samuel, John, Daniel and Thomas belong to the same will-defined sibling group, with sister Mary and brother James’s children also named. No contemporary parent names follow, and Alexander-951 is not proved to be another brother.

The assessment history above formerly described the will's collective share as for the children of a deceased brother James. Robert's will of 9 October 1849 leaves a share to brother James's children but does not say James was dead, and a death before 1849 must not be inferred. James is probably, not provably, James Glasco, formerly of Prescott, carpenter, whose children Eliza Jane, Mary and Alexander conveyed Prescott interests to Samuel or his widow in 1860–68.

- Mackay, The Canada Directory (1851) prints "Glasco, John, grocer, Main st." at Prescott immediately after "Glasgow, Samuel, general store, Main st." Robert's 1849 will names a brother John, so this grocer is a possible candidate for that brother. Proximity and trade alone do not prove it; graded possible.
- An original 1848 Prescott town census survives at the Archives of Ontario (
F 1721-49,MS 2553) and may separate Robert's and Samuel's households before Robert's death. The Prescott Telegraph survives with gaps for 1850–55, 1860–61 and 1864–72 (Archives of Ontario reel seriesN131) and is the best route to Robert's and Samuel's obituaries. - An OCR search of Leavitt's 1879 History of Leeds and Grenville found no Robert or Samuel Glasgow (weak, OCR-only negative).

The assessment history above formerly described the will's collective share as for the children of a **deceased** brother James. [Robert's will of 9 October 1849](https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSLG-LWY9-S) leaves a share to brother James's children but does not say James was dead, and a death before 1849 must not be inferred. James is probably, not provably, James Glasco, formerly of Prescott, carpenter, whose children Eliza Jane, Mary and Alexander conveyed Prescott interests to Samuel or his widow in 1860–68. A transcription of the 1861 Prescott grammar-school list includes Orena Glasgow, associated with Samuel Glasgow, storekeeper ([“Black Walnuts, Squirrels and Prescott High School”, *The Past Around Us*](https://thepastaroundus.wordpress.com/2015/10/12/black-walnuts-squirrels-and-prescott-high-school/), accessed 13 August 2026). Blog transcription, not the original list. Orena's rare name and age agree with the child of that name in Samuel's 1851 household, so it supports [Orena (Glasgow-4019)](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Glasgow-4019) as his daughter; it does not prove it. Robert's 1849 will names a brother John, so this grocer is a possible candidate for that brother. Proximity and trade alone do not prove it; graded possible. - An original 1848 Prescott town census survives at the Archives of Ontario (`F 1721-49`, `MS 2553`) and may separate Robert's and Samuel's households before Robert's death. The *Prescott Telegraph* survives with gaps for 1850–55, 1860–61 and 1864–72 (Archives of Ontario reel series `N131`) and is the best route to Robert's and Samuel's obituaries. - An OCR search of Leavitt's 1879 *History of Leeds and Grenville* found no Robert or Samuel Glasgow (weak, OCR-only negative).
